Great little café tucked away in the occasional grottiness that is Smithfield. It’s all quite shiny and new but the enthusiastic staff and cheap prices soon won me over. After a hard days browse through the 2nd hand/collectors shops it was nice to sit on the terrace(t’was a pleasant day) and sup a coffee whilst waiting for my £4.50 burger. The area certainly has plenty of character, from the wolf whistling spides to the concerned staff of Richer Sounds who couldn’t get their security shutters open due to a power failure their side of the street. When the burger finally arrived it was a monster which certainly went a long way to filling me up for the rest of the day. Sadly overall nothing too out of this world but a totally solid effort all round for Tojo’s. Pros: Great tasting food. Cons: A bit out of the way.

We used to go to a place called Strawberry Field’s in Smithfield for our Saturday grub, quite literally every Saturday. So when I walked in to find it was gone, I was a little gutted. No epic bouts of nostalgia for me! Right across from where it used to be was another café, called Tojo’s. I decided to go in here for a quick bite, to sit and reflect, mourn even(completely over exaggerating), the loss of Strawberry Fields. I took a seat and within moments was given a menu and asked if I’d like anything to drink. The menu had all the usual café attire on its pages, so I went for a cheese burger. The food was cooked very well and the portion size was enormous. I struggled to think how they could make any money giving me this much food, for so little cash. Tojo’s is a nice, bright café. It’s no Strawberry Fields, but it’ll do.
