Contrary to the previous reviewer, Michael, I have never seen this place with more than a small handful of people in it. Recently, a friend had decided(for whatever reason) to have their birthday celebration in the M Club, so a friend and I decided to pop in here for a drink first. We had our choice of tables as we were the only people in, but from our vantage point could see legions of Belfast’s Finest making their way to the stairs outside heading for the club to-bulk buy Blue WKD. *shudder* Following a very brief discussion, we decided to abandon the whole idea of going to the M Club as we didn’t fancy being at least a decade older than almost every else there, and decamped to Lavery’s over the road instead. VBar’s nice enough — shiny and new, but I’d prefer somewhere a bit older, with more character. Like Lavery’s, over the road. I’d review the M Club but I haven’t set foot in it for a long time and don’t plan to.

Apparently this is the ‘chill out’ part of the M Club(situated above) though the night I was there it was pretty lairy from the off. We were heading up to the M-Club(don’t ask) and decided a pre-club drink might be good to steady the old nerves. The bar is actually really nice, well laid out and plenty of seats and room. When we got there the music was pumping and a small group of girls had already turned one area in front of the bar into a dance floor. The wall of TV’s was pumping out Euro chart tosh but that all seemed to add to the experience. The bar staff were nice and service was quick despite the crowd being a few deep at the bar. Pints were cheap enough as well, the usual Beck’s Vier, Fosters etc with a comprehensive fridge full of alcopops as well. As you may have gathered I found the experience a tad too ‘young’ for my tastes but it was fun to visit for a while. Pros: Nicely done out, party crowd. Cons: Busy and music very loud.
