The Cornerhouse

Cozy pub with couch and table seating. They have some good ales (and a decent selection). It was a little louder than I would have preferred but I had no trouble hearing my group. It is a street or two over from the main street. Overall, a great spot for a pint or two and definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

A great pub with a good atmosphere that offers more depth than just a dance floor and a £1 a pint special.

Must be the best real ale offering in Yorkshire! When we called they had 12 on the go and it was the most glorious sight of all those hand pulls that will stay with me forever. The staff were very knowledgable about their ales which is refreshing in itself these days. My home town of York is blessed with a great selection of pubs but nothing like this. I saw lots of beautiful food being served but having already eaten was unable to try any on this occasion but certainly will next time. If real ale is your bag you MUST try this place. I would also advise a trip to the White Horse opposite which is fantastic also (in its own way).On the downside, smokers are relegated to the garden and no heating is provided out there. Many other places have taken care of this with infra red heating but it is a minor grumble.
