Alexander Stadium

It’s pretty nice to have such a good sports complex nearby the area. Alexander Stadium has host several athletics and martial arts, including a debut at Aviva Birmingham Grand Prix this year. This venue is definitely important moment for the history of this venue located in Perry Barr that is also home of the Birchfield Harriers club.
I have been to Alexander Stadium once visiting the site as «tourist» and I can confirm its facilities are pretty impressive. As a sport complex it’s really complete and counts on a fitness gym, where plenty of fitness and aerobic activities can be attended. The Birmingham Gymnastics & Martial Arts centre and the Birmingham High Performance centre are also a modern sports arena that worth visiting.
In an Olympics year, when Birmingham will be hosting some of the most important athletes of the world, it’s always valid to pay attention to what has been done about local talents of the sport in the area, and the Alexander Stadium is a good example to follow. This sport venue is open seven days of week and they cater for the public with hold and cold food and refreshments as well.

Alexander Stadium has recently had a £12.5 million expansion and refurbishment. The money has gone towards building a new stand which has a capacity of 5,000. That means the overall capacity of the Stadium is 12,700.

For Athletic venues, you can’t go wrong here. It is truly first class and famous for the Birchfield Harriers. With many different leisure activities available here, you are spolit for choice!
The staff are all very helpful and so friendly.
The only draw back with Alexander Stadium is the gym, its quite old and very small compared with a lot of other gyms out in Brum, I mean compared with Kingstanding gym, Kingstanding wins as it is larger and has more updated equipment, but it is still goodwhen it is quite like in the day. All in all, a great stadium with equally great staff.

The Stadium is just out of Perry Barr and is without a shaddow of doubt the city’s greatest athletics venue.
They fequently host international meetings (check inside for info, or ring them up– 0121 464 4084). Prices for the events are very reasonable and well worth a day out.
Also, the local athletics club Birchfield Harriers train here, it is their home ground, and throughout the athletics season they have training most nights. Once again if this interests you, just ring the above number to contact them.
