Typically patronising chain suiting this deluded, lowlife pseudo city with it’s typically patronising attitude. For the locals who can’t wait to see their town turned into a big mumsy frock outlet– the world’s biggest Primark… it’s of course perfect.

A few years ago(I think it was late 2009) a strange thing happened in Birmingham. All of a sudden, shops selling baguettes with fillings for as cheap as fifty pence a time sprung up out of nowhere. Ok, so the fifty pence«cheese salad» baguette actually only contained grated processed cheese and a few strands of limp looking lettuce, but hey, fifty pence! The name of the business is key — if you want to eat for less, then this is a good place to come as the food is certainly edible and they serve you quickly(some of the sightly more expensive ones are a little more evolved than the cheese salad one described above). However, if you’re in anyway fussy about your baguettes and sandwiches, I’d advise you to go elsewhere if you can afford it as the food here is unlikely to stand up to any high standards.

Eat 4 Less shops have been springing up all over the Brum this past year or so. For ages, I frequented this particular one opposite the Square Peg which I believe is one of the longer serving of their outlets. Unlike the newer one in Paradise Forum, this Eat 4 Less has no eat-in facilities and is instead a takeaway which sells a wide variety of baguettes for a quid or so. Their meal deal is a baguette, bag of crisps and can of pop which comes to about £1.99(depending on baguette) This particular branch is always busy and the queuing system, which takes after McDonalds, is very vague. Many times I’ve been stood waiting patiently to be called to a till and some chav has strode or pushed past everyone waiting and been served straight away. To be honest I think the reason I went off Eat 4 Less food is simply that I’ve eaten so much of it. If you’ve never had one though, their Spicy American Chicken baguettes are nice, whilst the Chicken Tikka’s not bad either. They also do slices of pizza for 50p which, if eaten on top of a baguette will leave you feeling very full indeed. Quite how healthy any of this stuff is I dread to think as so much of it is produced so quickly and sold so cheaply. Eat 4 Less is what it is, a cheap baguette shop where the food is functional rather than appetising. Just make sure you don’t let anyone beat you to the counter.
