Popped in for a quick dinner before a movie. The service is fast and I had no problems finding a place to eat(this was at 5.30) but Ive heard that queues can get pretty long at lunch times. Remenisant of my recent trip to Greece, the food here is spot on. Tasty and filling for when you want quick and affordable.

Incredible. How does this place not have a line out the door?! Seth S. and I had a lovely dinner here and loved every bite. For less than £11 we had two huge wraps(supposedly small — I don’t want to know how big the large must be), sides of chips, and drinks. I ordered the chicken souvlaki. Sorry there is no photo — I got so excited when the wrap came out that I forgot to take a picture. The chicken was succulent and perfectly seasoned. The pita was fluffy, chewy, and had the perfect balance of flakiness/sponginess to hold all of the ingredients together. I really liked the cucumber sauce as well. It was light, herbal and delicately tied the salad together with the chicken. The chips are equally divine. A nice portion is included in the wrap. We originally thought they just serve the side inside the wrap — wrong! You get chips in the wrap AND on the side with the meal deal. The menu includes all of the traditional Greek favorites plus some tempting desserts. Based on the baklava from the sister retail shop next door, I’m going to say the desserts are a winning choice too. The deli is small, with 3 main tables and bar seating at the counter. Jars of self-serve fresh sea salt, pepper, sweet Greek paprika, and dried chili flakes adorn the counter for additional seasoning as well. Customer service is prompt and friendly. The staff kindly check in on you to make sure you’re satisfied with the food and ask if you need anything else. Being in a small space also gives you an up-close view of the food preparation. I love this. You can tell each dish is made with great pride. Birmingham, get in here!

It’s hard for me to overstate how good the food is here, especially considering how cheap the food is(though admittedly the prices went up slightly since they first opened). Anytime I’m in the city center, if I need a quick meal, this is my first stop. I usually get a regular sized wrap of some sort which is enough food that I am always not hungry anymore afterwards. Wraps typically come with a meat of your choice(I like the sausage with cheese or the lamb/pork meatballs), salad(lettuce and tomato), flat potato chips, and yogurt or garlic sauce. All of this is wrapped up together in a freshly warmed pita that tastes like it was made fresh that day(I’m not sure if it was or wasn’t, but it doesn’t really matter because it’s delicious either way). They also serve various sweet or savory pastries which I haven’t had often, but have been told by friends that they are quite good. I wholeheartedly recommend you check this place out.

I pop in here all the time for a cheap and delicious meal. Simple, cosy place, understated décor, with really friendly and welcoming staff. When it’s not busy, it’s nice to sit in the window and people-watch. So far I have liked everything I’ve tried– the sausage stuffed with cheese which is often up on the specials board is particularly scrumptious, both in platter and wrap form. The keftedes(lamb meatballs) are great as well, as is the chicken. And they put really good homemade chips INSIDE the wraps! So good! The best thing about this place though, by far, is value for money. It’s like being transported to Greece for £3 — £4!

They have a fantastic set of dishes, and it’s always changing. They have a core set menu but outside of that there are a variety of freshly made new and exciting foods so well worth going there again and again. The quality is fantastic at very reasonable prices, and the service is great. Food is fresh and also quite healthy.

As a Canadian in the UK this is the first time since I arrived that a restaurant price seemed reasonable to me! Well-priced, excellent Mediterranean food. I had the lamb keftedes – succulent, generous portion. Everything very flavourful.

I was rushing around one lunch time when I spotted 4023. I had no idea what it did, but as I glanced in the window, it looked interesting. The restaurant is small. Really small. There are a few places to sit, but it isn’t designed for large numbers of diners. But that’s fine, I was in a rush and wanted something to grab and go. The menu is a small but enticing selection of Mediterranean classics. I opted for a chicken wrap. The chicken was excellently cooked and seasoned, and accompanied by a little salad and yoghurt dressing. Simple food, expertly done. It was only after a few minutes, when I stopped rushing around in my head, that I realised that everyone one in there, customers and staff, originated from the Med. If your food appeals to its origin market, that’s always a good sign for me. My lunch cost me £2.50. I’ll definitely be back to try something more adventurous. If you want something quick, tasty, and filling, I would definitely give 4023 a few minutes of your time.

With the development of New Street Station, it was inevitable that great new places were going to pop up around Stephenson Street. This new lunch spot is something quite different for the centre of the City, but will definitely find it’s place in amongst the independent deli’s and great places to grab something different on the go. Looking clean, basic and unassuming from the outside; even the name doesn’t give away what this business does at first glance. I heard about this place through Twitter and had it bookmarked to visit for quite some time. After a busy morning on Friday, a hurried lunch on the go was the way forward and I remembered that I had promised myself a visit to 4023. After snapping some pictures of the exterior, I popped in to peruse the menu and decide what I was going to have. There is seating inside, but literally enough space for maybe 6 — 8 diners. The menu is small, but very well formed. You can choose from koftas, meze platters, wraps and salads and have these served to take away or eat in. After troubling over the selection for a couple of minutes, I decided to go for the lamb meatballs in a bread wrap to take away. Even with a busy venue, lots of orders coming in and a queue out the door; I got my order within 5 minutes. I took this to the Cathedral to enjoy a spot of winter sun whilst I ate my lunch. The meatballs were delicious. Hot, filling and tasty… The bread was obviously fresh and the salad was the perfect accompaniment. My lunch cost me £3.50(just the wrap, no sides or drinks) and I felt this was good value for money as I wasn’t hungry again until the late evening. I definately want to go back to sample some of their other specialities. If you want to eat in, get there early(as it’s only a tiny place). If you’re happy to take away(and create jealousy in the office), go and give this place a go!
