I first found this salon when i worked with the art team to do some fashion editorials for a hair magazine. After the shoot i always wanted to pop in and get a trim (my hair style is medium length) and when i did it was one of the best hair cuts i’d ever had.
I always get scared going into a salon environment but the team here put me at ease and i had a good time, the salon its self is quite spacious with two floors, and a well lit reception area.
Prices range but its a little cheaper than the big chain salons nearer the centre of the city.
Very easy to miss but worth the trip, really glad i met the guys.

James Bushell is a top independent salon. After managing Toni & Guy in the city centre, Mark Philpott came here and I followed him. Mark is now at the spa in Leamington Spa and I try to get over there as much as I can when I become follically challenged. Sometimes though, I’ve got to settle for a cut in Birmingham so I’ll come here, and Alex is my adopted super-​sub for Mark.
As Alex is involved in the music industry, (he’s in an indie-​rock band himself), he understands the kind of cuts that go with the territory, so if this is what you are after, he’s your man.
If you want to have your hair coloured in relaxed surroundings I’d also recommend here. In a downstairs studio you can enjoy some large tropical fishtanks to make you feel like you are in Hollywood rather than Edgbaston.

I first tried this hairdressers using a groupon offer deal. With all deals, as I’m sure you will agree, I was a little bit worried.
I thought they could easily pile me off to the work experience girl and allow her to dye my hair any colour of the rainbow!
However luckily for me, they booked me in with a qualified stylist and also a great colour technician.
I had a few ideas in my head which I rambled to them. They understood completely and gave their own creative ideas which I always love.
The cut and colour were amazing, I was so impressed. I opted for having blonde bits pulled through the underneath and it looked gorgeous. I would definitely recommend.
