Manor Motor Company

I have taken my car for an MOT at Manor Garage a number of times without complaint. The Garage were unable to replace my tyres on one MOT, so I did need to visit a Kwikfit and then return for MOT to be completed, but that aside the service had been competent.
Unfortunately I won’t return to the garage again after my last experience.
The garage kindly called me to advise my car MOT was due. This is a service I appreciate. On the reminder call I arranged for my MOT to take place later that week. Dropping the Car off, I was surprised to receive a phone call 15 mins later to advise that the MOT couldn’t be completed as I’d taken the car in a day early.
When I mentioned that it was the Garage that had phoned me to book the appointment the member of staff I was speaking to became defensive and said that «I hadn’t spoken to him». I calmly suggested that for future reference, could they check the actual MOT date before calling me to avoid any future mistakes? I was told «No, we can’t. It’s your responsibility to check your Certificate.» Touché!
When I picked the car up later and explained what had happened to another member of staff, I didn’t receive an apology, but was treated to an awkward silence. When I again politely suggested that it might be possible for them to check MOT due dates before phoning with reminders I was told that they do. «And yet, here I am unable to have my MOT done». More awkward silence.
Mistakes happen, but any business that puts its own pride ahead of an apology, and further — doesn’t listen to constructive feedback — is a business I choose not to use.
