Based in the very pretty Moorpool estate at the back of Harborne High Street, the Moorpool Players are one of Birmingham’s leading amateur theatre groups — perhaps not up there with Hall Green Little Theatre, but certainly worth a visit, Formed in the 1970s, early productions were mostly comedies but they do does branch out into serious drama with productions including ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’, ‘Habeas Corpus’ and most memorably for me(largely because I missed the last bus home and had to walk back to Kings Heath) ‘Rebecca’. Every year the Players hold a Christmas charity show and share the proceeds between local charities. Always on the lookout for new members, the group meet every Wednesday evening throughout the year — more details(including pictures of past productions) can be found on their website.
