Sprocket Cycles

Sprocket Cycles is the earthiest of bike shops.
Located as part of the friends of the earth plot down Digbeth way, the shop prides itself on not only offering top of the line bike components but also a range of second hand re-​conditioned bikes and a quality of service that is hard to beat.
The shop itself is an absolute charm, benefitting from it’s position in the old cobbled streets of Digbeth beneath the city’s towering new developments.
Inside there’s just enough room to swing a cat amongst the rows of bikes and the counter but that’s part of what I like about the place.
Service was friendly and the chap behind the counter beamed with enthusiasm as he greeted me.
I couldn’t say that Sprocket Cycles was the cheapest bike shop in town for those occasional tweaks that a well ridden bike needs, but on the occasion I enquired I must say the price I was offered, beat the previous quote by some margin.

I wanted a new bike and I didn’t know which shop to go to, to purchase a bike from. A friend told me about Sprocket Cycles because they’ve receieved a great service from there. I was in two minds about purchasing a bike but thought I’d go and check out the various bikes within the store.
They sell a wide variation of new and used bikes, including mountain bikes, BMX, road bikes, fixed gear and single speed, city and touring bikes, and children’s bikes.
So what’s great about this shop is that they don’t just sell bikes, they also fix your bike if you are having problems with it. You can also buy new tyres for your bike too. Based in Digbeth, it’s a convenient shop which isn’t too far out of the centre of Birmingham town.
Furthermore, the shop also offers a wide selection of tools and components, from Silca Superpista track pumps to Shimano XT group sets.
I didn’t manage to purchase a bike in the end because of my financial situation; however if I was looking to buy one anytime soon; I would return back to Sprocket Cycles.

I headed down to Sprocket Cycles to get a quote on fixing my death-​trap of a bike after nearly having a stroke in Evans when they quoted me £80 to replace my brake cable and tighten my wonky wheel. Yes — I could fix it myself but I am lazy and my bike is 50 years old so figured I’d just get a quote and see if someone professional could give it a once over.
Not sure who I spoke to at Sprocket but he was very helpful and quoted me £28 for the same job. What a nice guy! I’ll be taking ‘Star Rider’ (yes) down for a service very soon!
The shop is located not far from Moor Street and is next to Warehouse Café and the vegan shop.
