Tessall Post Office

Dingy little post office/ off license. Post office desk not open at the stated opening stated opening times. Customer service is nothing special, staff are abrupt & talk amongst themselves rather than to customers. When there's big queue at post office desk there will be one member of staff on it with the other member sat drinking tea at newsagent desk which is right next to post office till.

What comes to your mind when you think of a good old classic English local post office? A small shop run by a woman who’s been over 100 since you were a child? A paltry selection of sweets that provided little solace to standing in the queue with your parents for what seemed an eternity? Postman Pat? Now keep this image in your mind. Now, what comes to mind when you think of an off-​licence? Staggering around desperately searching for a kebab? Rummaging for the last bottle of Frosty Jacks or some equally cheap alternative alcoholic beverage? Whatever it is, I bet it’s not that close to your image of the post office. Now, combine the two, because that’s what Tessall Post Office has done! A, shall we say, unconventional pairing, there’s not an awful lot to say about the post office section, but the off-​license is surprisingly well stocked and well priced (8 cans of Carling for just £6.50 was the best deal I spied). A pleasant surprise!
