The Bench 504

Been coming to The Bench before it was even named The Bench, it was called Graff Supplies back in the day and before Rob took over the space it was run by two funny looking dudes with stupid hair cuts that didn’t have a clue what the fuck were doing.
This store helped put the Birmingham Graffiti scene on the map and bring a lot of writers together, not to mention help build one of the best graffiti scenes in the whole of the UK. The Bench ain’t just a place to buy paint from, it’s a place to hang, meet cool people, talk about random stupid shit and graffiti adventures and drink powdered tea out of jam jars or whatever the fuck you can find to put some in.
The store has been located in the Custard Factory in Digbeth for quite a few years now and is full of quality paint, MTN, Ironlak, etc. mops, markers, inks, hats, shirts and various other items. I live in Atlanta now and unfortunately there is nothing like The Bench here, or the rest of the East Coast for that matter.

The place to come for all your graffiti or design related needs. I came in here to make an order for a community project that I was involved in. No real knowledge of what to buy so the expertise was both excellent, friendly and informative.

It’s not just a shop for graffiti lovers but also for designers and inspiring artists. Most popular thing about The Bench 504 was the famous graffiti sofa that apparently was sold! Who is the lucky buyer? If I knew it was not so expensive I could try to get it for my friend who is a graffiti maniac and she was always chasing this seater for ages!
Anyway, I am not graffiti artist and any 5 years of child has better drawing skills that me but I know a couple of people that recommend The Bench 504 as a shop to buy your spray cans because their price and range of colours make difference.
What I like as well about The Bench 504 is the fact they sell really interesting magazines and some street art publications that are not found at any other shop in Birmingham and it’s just enough for me!

Situated in Custard Factory’s ultra chic network of shops, Bench 504 is where Birmingham’s graffiti fanatics come to buy their spray paint. The product range is pretty comprehensive featuring major brands such Montana Hardcore and Belton Premium. The shop sells all the attendant accessories necessary for graffiti art such as caps, markers or replacement tips, as well as a small range of designer clothing.
The prices are pretty much what you’d expect, the shop itself is sufficiently cool for what it sells with it’s smart storefront and wares cannily displayed in an eye pleasing manner. The only small fly in the ointment is that sometimes not open at it’s advertised opening hours so calling ahead before visiting maybe prudent.

Having walked past this place many a time I’d always noted it for future reference but finally I had a purpose to venture in. Needing to colour match an old item that needed some love I knew that it wasn’t worth checking our Hobby Craft or a DIY store for overpriced spray paint in limited colours. Instead i came here with the item and they instantly presented the best matches for me to make a decision on final colour. Great service, super helpful and the spray paint was half the price of buying some from a DIY store.
Whilst they have an array of spray paint and Krink ink in there they also stock a selected range of clothing items. If you a brand snob then you can expect to find some early The Hundreds t-​shirts in here for a bargain at £25 a pop. They have some good pieces in here so check them out.
