A real hidden gem! Tripped across this place on the road and decided to take a look at the menu. Food is served in the dining room at the back of the pub with access of its own from the rear and through the bar from the front. Nice little pot belly stove in the main dining room and gas fire in the bar. We were welcomed warmly and sat at a table marked by a wooden spoon with numbers on for table numbers, nice touch. Great menu and very good value. Even have lobster tails available depending on the season. We both ordered the 10oz steak and ordered it medium rare. We were driving so just had 2 pints of orange cordial. We asked about the lobster but as was out of season they were able to give us king prawns covered in garlic butter. Came served with chips if I remember rightly. Everything was cooked to perfection. I was very happy with the food. So happy I actually ordered desert too. I had the apple crumble and my dad had a cheesecake. The apple crumble struck me as home made and the portion size was huge! It was fantastic and tasted just like I was sitting in my own front room. Dad felt a little hard done by as the cheesecake was so small but no smaller than portions we got elsewhere. If I was in the area I would call in here regularly. They also do a Tapas menu but you have to pre book. It is every Monday night. All in all a quiet quaint home cooking restaurant ran by nice people.

I would recommend this pub very highly. Plenty of real ales and good food. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. Anyone who likes real beer should make the effort to visit this pub. These are the pubs we should all be making the effort to go to to ensure they survive and thrive. TC taxis do run out to this location but unsure of the cost.

Good country pub great in the summer. The bar is very much a locals bar but all are accepted in there. There is a lounge area and a consevatory area. You can have good value meals in these rooms. Has a good out door area with a small kids play area. Also has a large field. Have real ales each week and a yearly beer festival. Staff are warm and friendly and make you all feel welcome. And u can go to the varden center over the road after a pint and abite to eat

This place is ok to go for a quiet drink. There are four different rooms plus an outside, roofed smoking area and a play area. There is a large car park which you have to walk across to get to the play area. The staff aren’t unfriendly but there is an air of it being a bit«local pub for local people». It’s fairly clean and they serve food although I didn’t find the place welcoming enough to return to find out what the meals were like. The drinks however, are well priced.
