Pizza&Cider! We went here on Sunday for a change from the usual pub food, it’s a really open and friendly bar/restaurant. Most of the seating is tables and benches, high chairs are available and they didn’t mind us moving the tables around a bit to make some more space. They have a monthly deal on pizza, and June’s is Jerk chicken! It’s really good and I had it with a lemon&lime cider which was really nice as well. Depending on how busy they are you can customise a cider tasting board, as it wasn’t busy the girl at the bar let us pick what we liked which she said they don’t normally do, but she still advised us depending on our preferences and gave us 5 half pints(I think) of sweet and dry drinks. We also had some garlic bread as a starter which was tasty! For dessert I had the apple and ginger cheesecake. This divided the table as half of them didn’t like ginger, but I loved it and had it with cream and chocolate sauce. The staff were really nice, it is order at the bar which is a little annoying but didn’t make much difference as we weren’t too far away. We had my boyfriends 1 year old niece with us too and the staff have her colouring in things to try and keep her occupied for a little why too.

This review has been a long time coming, it’s taken from when this place opened til now before I ate here. So… a year or more I guess — I’d been before but only for drinks. We happened to be getting food on a Tuesday, and Tuesday happens to be a promo day here; a pizza(from a choice of around 7) a salad and any half pint of cider, lager or soft drinks for £10. I do love a bargain. We sat outside as it was a little stuffy indoors, may have been all the candles everywhere. As per usual the staff were lovely, I’d never heard of most of the ciders they had. I didn’t need to ask when they let me sample each one — and I discovered the mango cider — my new favourite. Between us we ordered a margarita and ‘the James Brindley’, the 2 vegetarian options on this promo menu. The James Brindley had roast potatoes as a topping with Spanish onions, spinach and blue cheese. It was delicious! The side salad was actually pretty good too, you help yourself to a bowl of the stuff and there’s a Dijon dressing too. I’m not normally a fan of thin base pizzas, I always felt like I was eating a cheese cracker because they’re so done to a crisp. But I was pleasantly surprised with the stable’s offering; the edges were crispy but the base was soft and chewy — top marks!

The stable is located on John bright street admist other swagtastic independent establishments. The menu mainly consists of pizzas, pies and drinks. The restaurants furnishing creates a great atmosphere with low lighting and cosy seating. The majority of the store is made up of rustic tables and benches. The restaurant does host live music also, mainly the acoustic type. On this occasion I ordered a thin base four cheese pizza. Although this wasn’t the most filling pizza it was sufficient and tasted great. You could really taste the four different cheeses used. If you are looking for a pizza after a night out or your hungry this is probably not the place you want to go. Pizza and a pint of coke cost about £10 which I think is quite good value for money. Dessert pizzas are also available including a chocolate pizza. Although I haven’t tasted this I asked some people who was trying it and they didn’t seem very impressed. If I do go back and try it I shall update this review! If you are a pizza enthusiast I would recommend checking out the stable. It has a great location, great pizzas, great dining experience and prices to match.

Went for dinner here with a few friends one of which was a vegetarian. We were told there was a 30 minute wait but before we could even order our drinks there was a table ready for us. The pizza and garlic bread I ordered were delicious and you can really tell that they are freshly made. there were good vegetarian options and they even offered to make one to my friends choice. What really impressed me though was the vibe of this place. It had such a nice laid back atmosphere with music right to my taste. I will deffinately be returning to sample more of the dishes. A great place to go with a group of friends.

I am not generally a fan of pizza as anything that relies on bread to fill me up. However having been to The Stable a few times now — I have to admit that I am converted. I know this is a chain, and chains don’t always bring good things with them. But as always there is a place for everything. Seating and dining is on long benches. If you’ve visited Wagamama then you know the kind. Order at the bar and collect a number. Much like a pub would do. Or Nando’s but let’s not talk about that now. The pizzas have always been served piping hot, fresh, and packed with toppings. I love that the base is thin, crispy, and never soggy. Though occasionally charred to be honest. I appreciate the effort made to feel less like a chain by branding pizzas on the menu with local Birmingham names. But really I just appreciate good pizza. The cider choice is good here. And I like that the tasting paddle changes so you’re never getting the same thing. The team are always happy to let you have a taster from the menu if there is a cider that you’re looking for. And we’ve even been able to swap out a cider from the tasting paddle to a favourite without any problems. Pie wise things are mixed. Sometimes these come out perfect. Sometimes they come out dry. If you fancy running that gauntlet then be my guest. Just a warning that the vegetarian squash pie was the worst offender for this. Overall I am a fan and I will continue to return to The Stable for a pizza fix every now and again. Most likely on a Tuesday as they do a ‘meal offer’ with a pizza, salad, and drink for a tenner — which is good value in my opinion.

Really good selection of pizzas. They have a tasting board of ciders for £7.50 which is fun to share. A great place to go for people who don’t drink beer. Worth a visit just for the cider selection.

This place very quickly became one of my favorite places to eat in Birmingham. I don’t particularly like wine or beer, but that’s not a problem because The Stable primarily serves cider! In fact, they have an enormous(40+ options) cider menu including draughts, bottles, and boxed ciders. For 7.50GBP, my wife and I shared the cider tasting board which comes with five 1⁄3 pint samples of various ciders chosen by The Stable. Keep in mind that the ciders that come with this deal change regularly. With this we were able to really experience what The Stable had to offer and got to try some new and delicious ciders. As for the food, The Stable specializes in Pizzas and Pies, though between the two I recommend the pizzas. The pies are good, but a little on the small side for the price. I’ve had a few different pizzas here now and I have never been disappointed. This is the best pizza I’ve had in Birmingham since moving here 2 ½ years ago. Each table also comes with a large bottle of chili oil if you want to add a kick to your food. All in all I highly recommend checking this place out! I will definitely be back.

Visited The Stable on a Thursday afternoon, It was quiet but the staff where still very friendly & attentive. We sampled a variety of ciders all selected to our personal taste! We didn’t eat although looking around & at the menu everything looks appetising. They are child friendly offering children’s menu, colouring crayons & pictures! If your after a chilled laid back atmosphere, you won’t be disappointed.

The Stable is a newly opened business in Brum, boasting to be the Cathedral to Cider in this town. There is plenty of communal-like seating as benches line the expansive, ambient space. It was empty when we walked in, but the dinner rush soon picked up. Ordering is required at the bar only, but tables are still bookable. We ordered Garlic Bread, Margherita Pizza, and a couple of ciders. I debated over the tasting board, but opted with the Bee Sting(good but quite sweet) when discovering the house chooses which ciders to provide(some are served out of a box rather than in bottles or draft). Raspberry Cornish Orchard was good as well. The Garlic Bread was nice and crispy thin, the size of a personal flatbread with smothered garlic and parsley butter. The pizza on the other hand, was immediately soggy due to the overproportion of cheese that ruined a fine crust, thus we were unable to finish. Otherwise, nice, clean place and the pies look great.

Really enjoyed a night at stable. They got exotic pizza receipts which tasting really good. Good pies availible as well. My advice: Try the tasting cider board for 7.50. Tottaly worth it. You can share it with a friend as well. If you dont like that, try«The Beast» Minus 1 Star because of price.

Poped in the stable for a quick drink with partner. Soon as I walked in there nice calm relaxed feeling. I got a pint of bee sting to drink wow is it strong but taste so good! Didn’t have time for food this time but after looking at the menu can’t wait to go back and try it.

I have been to The Stable many times since it opened and I am always pretty impressed with the vibe, drinks and food. I have tried a few of the ciders which range from very flat almost apple juice like drinks through to fizzy and punchy pints. My favourite cider has to the the ‘Bee Sting’ but we warned it packs a punch… as I found out the next day after a couple. The pizza I had here was called the Bull Ring Boar, I really like the fact that even though this place is a chain they have still adapted some of the menu items to fit with the city… a nice touch :) I am not a massive pizza person but this was crispy and light fully loaded with toppings and cheese. To be honest it was one of the best pizza’s I have had in Brum… but as I said i am far from an expert in this field! The only reason i am not giving the Stable five stars is the fact you have to order at the bar and do not get any table service at all. It would be nice to have a little bit more service instead of this DIY approach to dining but I have to say the staff you do meet at the door or on the small bars are always very pleasant. I’ll be back for more food and definitely more cider :)

Pizza, Pie and Cider, a winning combination. The stable almost has the feel of a German beer garden, big long tables and benches and a lively atmosphere greet you as soon as you walk through the door, there are some individual tables but you will most likely be sat next to a group of people so bear that in mind. The food comes in two primary forms(with some salads thrown in for luck) 1. Pizza — Thin crispy base with a generous layer of toppings, these are inspired by a variety of Birmingham landmarks/people and are a little different to the norm just to keep things interesting. These are some really good pizzas probably the best you’ll get in the area. 2. Pies — A good selection of tasty looking pies, I’ve not had one(although I’m definitely going to next time I’m in!) but the pastry looked crispy and they didn’t seem stingy on the filling. Drink here is all about cider, there is a real cornucopia on offer, it should cover pretty much everyone’s taste. If you are having trouble choosing you can opt for a «tasting board» of 51⁄3 pints to get an idea of what the selection has to offer. If you’re in the mood for a pizza and/or some cider then this will go down seriously well, especially if you are in a large group.

A must see in Birmingham! Cool, casual atmosphere with delicious Cider, Pizza & Pie’s. All of the food was so good that I couldn’t say what I liked the most. My tip is to order the cider tasting board with 5 different types for £7.50.

Me and the Unilocalers visited ‘The Stable’ on a Wednesday night, this place can only be described as the home of cider The décor is nice with plenty of communal wooden benches, nice table candles and random apples are scattered around the place for effect. There is a huge choice of ciders; a lot more is on offer compared to a regular bar/pub. They also do a sample tray where you get five different ciders, each a third of a pint for £7.50. You do not get to pick which ciders you get in the tray, everyone gets the same five which is marked on a black board. All pints are £3:80 and bottles £4.10 which is a little pricey. I had a bottle of ‘Annings Pear & Mint Cider’ which was easy drinking and you could really taste the mint. I also enjoyed a Somerset 20 Yr old Cider brandy. I had the lamb pie and it was possibly the most delicious pie I’ve ever tasted. The garlic wedges were also really good, as was the tomato chutney/pickled onion. Shame the salad was dosed in some kind of salad cream/mayonnaise/dressing. i’d have preferred it without this. Just a personal preference though. Lovely atmosphere to the place, would definitely recommend stopping by. Service was good and they had plenty of people behind the bar, and plenty of attentive waiting staff which was nice to see. Overall I liked the place and I will be back for the ciders and maybe a pie next time.

Amazing food and fantastic ciders and beer. The Stable specialises in cider, pizza and pies. A fantastic menu with catchphrase names to go with it. I had the Lamb Bam Boogie pie served with garlic potatoes, chutney and a pickled onion. It was a hearty and delicious pie. All the pies and food looked amazing. Cider tasting available here. You can purchase 5 different ciders in half pints to sample for £7.50. A great atmosphere and a great place to eat and drink. Great to meet Unilocalers on this social event. Cheers Dan G.

Went along for the launch night and while it wasn’t an ordinary service I can judge the pizza and the décor from the hour and a half I spent there. Situated on the edge of John Bright Street, The Stable is a great addition to the restaurants and bars in this area. It’s a little bit away from the shopping areas but close enough to New Street Station. So I’m hoping it will have a nice buzz about it but not be constantly busy. The interior is very stripped back and trendily industrial. Walls are a mixture of wood clad, concrete and some tiling. Tables are long for sharing, with benches to clamber onto. This feels like somewhere for families or shoppers grabbing a bite in the daytime and groups of friends pre-night out. Not a date night place. Saying that, The Stable were serving some of the best pizza I’ve had outside of Italy. Better than some of the pizza I had IN Italy. The base is incredibly thin and crispy, but not burnt. Toppings are tasty and thoughtful but not overwhelming. Even the basic cheese and tomato was elevated with the addition of basil. I tried quite a lot of the pizzas and loved their local inspired names such as the Perry Baa Baa topped with lamb and sweet potato. This was probably my favourite of the evening but all were good. They also sell pies, salads and ploughmans. The other main selling point is the wide array of cider. I tried a couple of the sweeter ones and I’m looking forward to trying the medium/dry ones! Excitingly they have a cider tasting board with five 1⁄3 pints for £7.50. So there’s lots to go back and try. Hopefully it will live up to my initial 5 star rating!

I didn’t plan to have pizza but when the occasion calls I gotta listen. I had a cheese, mushroom and caramelised onion pizza(the name I don’t remember) and two mulled ciders. The mulled cider was really good. Not really a lot of it for £3.50 but hey, I’m getting in the spirit of Winter/Xmas. The pizza was nice, not the best I have had but still good. The base was wonderful but I couldn’t taste the caramelised onion(which is a shame because it is my favourite) unfortunately. The décor is nice, soft lighting and long tables like in Wagamama. There are desperate areas of eating and just drinking.

We queued up for the Stable’s free pizza night(luckily got in very quickly), and what a great promotion it was, because I will definitely be going back! Pizzas were delicious– some of the best I’ve had in Birmingham(this is coming from a New Yorker with very particular pizza standards). My other half and I each had half of the other’s pizza… we got the Hawaiian(your standard pineapple, ham and cheese, with some additional avocado) and the Severn Heaven which had smoked mackerel and smoked salmon. Both were delicious and enormous and we devoured them. The hot mulled cider(which included a bit of brandy ;)) was also really good, some of the best mulled cider I’ve had from a restaurant in a while and perfect on a cold rainy night. Even though the place is pretty big, it still managed to create a lovely and somewhat intimate atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, despite being swarmed with folks waiting for free pizza. Highly recommend this place.

Wow managed to be first in the queue somehow for the free pizza and cider night at this new addition to Birmingham’s growing casual dining eateries! I was even more impressed that I was offered a choice of 6 ciders and could choose any pizza off the menu. Naturally I chose the most expensive;) the Longhorn Jim– £13.50 if I had paid for it. Ground beef, chorizo, Ham, Portobello mushrooms and Mozzarella-yum! They are a choice of around 10 pizzas, mostly with Birmingham themed names. You can also chose from a couple of salads, though the menu isn’t extensive. There are apparently vegan options too and a desserts menu available on request. Drinks wise cider is king here! I’ve never seen so many ciders outside a festival! If this isn’t your thing then they also serve Seafairers and Veltins. Some people had to queue a good while outside, but once in, the service was quick. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere vibrant. I’m ready to head back!:)
