I first came across what used to be known as the Orange Studio years ago, in the days before Wi-​Fi coffee shops (in the days before coffee shops) when I was looking for somewhere to work on my laptop in between meetings in Birmingham.
I recently re-​visited it as a volunteer for Social Surgery; this is free event set up to encourage charities and not for profit organisations who want to learn about social media and how it can help their cause. It’s fantastic of the studio to host this in their roof terrace — being able to go outside is lovely during the warmer evenings.
The studio is still a great place to work and meet people, if you want something resembling more a traditional work environment and less an office. If you need something more formal, meeting rooms and events are what the Studio does best with everything from ice cream to stress toys and a selection on daily newspapers to chair massage available to you.
A great find.

I’ve been to several events held at The Studio and always been impressed by the quality of the facilities as well as the prime city centre location.
Everything about the place is well thought out and looks great. I especially love the roof terrace café area.
The technical support is great too, I struggled connecting my Mac to a flatscreen and one of their team came to my aid and got me up and running in no time. The best bit was that they didn’t make me feel like an idiot for struggling!
The Studio is a quality venue for meetings, conferences and business events.

This review is based more on the amount of times I’ve booked The Studio’s facilities for a couple of events I’ve put on. I’ve used the studio now about 5 times and that’s because it’s located in central Birmingham and has easy transport links to get to the venue. It’s also one of the most chic venues to host an event, the last event I hosted at the studio was in March 2012 and I’m hosting another event there on the 30^th May 2012. They’ve been great to me, offered me a discounted booking price for the room hire and I’ve received great feedback about the food there from the guests who’ve attended my events.
Personal recommendation, Mandy & Rebecca are two very helpful members of staff who have always given me 10 out of 10 service. If you happen to book a venue for your next event then the studio is the place and do ask for either one of those staff members.

The Orange Studio Rooftop restaurant was a real hidden gem and somewhere lovely, special and quiet to have a relaxed lunch.
Unfortunately, last time I tried to go (about a month ago?) the staff upstairs had informed me that the rooftop restaurant (atrium) is now closed to the public and only available for private hire/​conferences etc.
What a real shame! Still, if you are planning a conference or private event, this could be just the place you never knew you were looking for! ;o)

The Orange Studio, now renamed ‘The Studio’ has to be one of my favourite restaurants. I love how it’s hidden away, even though it’s right in the middle of the city centre.
It’s situated above the old Orange store on Cannon street, where there is now just an internet café on the ground floor. Below the restaurant are conference rooms and the restaurant sits on the top floor.
The setting is modern and the atmosphere cool and relaxing. The outdoor seating has some pretty plants decorating it and it’s really lovely to sit outside on a sunny day.
The food is good and well presented. Perhaps slightly pricey, but not unreasonable and staff are friendly and attentive too!

A strange mix-​up of a place. Ultra modern, as you’d expect anything to do with Orange to be, lots of glass and wood.
The front of shop is an internet café, not very cheap (£1 per 15mins) but pretty quick with good quality printing available. Snacks and drinks available there.
On the upper levels are training rooms and conference rooms should you want to hire them, and then on the second floor is a breezy restaurant that you find a lot of suits in come lunch time.
Again, the food is not cheap, but I remember that the food wasn’t half bad, and again the extra you pay for food also goes towards the nice surrounds and atmosphere you get to eat in. Sandwiches, wraps, salads, all well presented. Light and bright venue, some indoor and outdoor seating available up there. Makes a great change from the Bella Pasta/​Pizza Hut chain, or a Boots meal deal come 1pm.
