A local beauty spot, and a good place for walking the dog. In fact it’s one of only two Local Nature Reserves in Bolton. It’s not a bad place for walking the kids either: there’s a clearly marked path all the way round the ‘Lodge’(actually a small lake), and plenty to look at along the way — geese, ducks, blackberries in season etc. Mind you, that’s all there is to it: there’s no playground for the kids to play, and they’ll need close supervision at times as there’s open access to the water. Our two(aged 3 and 5) can get a little bit tense when the way ahead is blocked by geese — sometimes they can look a bit threatening if you haven’t come to feed them. Oh – and bring your wellies if it’s been raining — the whole place can resemble a mudbath! But having said that, it’s a pleasant(and very pretty) place to come and work off some calories after Sunday lunch.
