For our usual weekend brunch, we were looking for another place to try… since we had to run some errands at Middlebrook, we decided to check out options there. Mr. Snarky was the one that spotted that Luciano’s serves breakfast. It is located in the far corner of the retail park near the stadium and next to Subway. The place always seems to be quite busy and is child friendly. When we walked in, we weren’t really sure what to do… eventually a staff member told us to choose a seat, then place our order at the counter. Fair enough. There is a soft seat area with tables, but just be careful as some of the tables are quite small and not really big enough to hold two plates. There is a section with regular tables and chairs, but when we went they were all full. I decided on the Breakfast Bruschetta while Mr. Snarky decided on the Grande Colazione… essentially a Full English Breakfast. Anyway, I do like the feel of the place and think it would be great for afternoon tea with friends or a nice place to have coffee and read a book. I didn’t realize that they do become more of a restaurant later in the day until a couple next to us asked if they could have the restaurant menu and a staff member said that it doesn’t open until 12 p.m. We waited for over half an hour for our food. In fact, we were about to get up and say something as I mentioned to Mr. Snarky that other tables received numbers after they ordered and we didn’t. I also noticed that another table was a bit annoyed as they waited a very long time for their food as well. Eventually our food came out and both of us wondered, «What took so long?» But seriously… what took so long??? The food was good, but there wasn’t anything particularly special about it. I was really looking forward to the Parmesan Scrambled Eggs, but I couldn’t taste much of the Parmesan Cheese. Mr. Snarky said that the ‘Italian Style Beans’ tasted an awful lot like Heinz Beans. I did enjoy the bit of Portabello Mushroom from Mr. Snarky’s plate. I can’t say anything about the restaurant menu, however, if it took quite a long time to get simple breakfast food… I’d be a bit worried about how long it would take to get lunch/dinner. However, food is decent(you can tell they use fresh, quality ingredients) and it would be a great place for coffee and sweet treats.

I’m so happy that my office is only 5 minutes from here. Luciano’s is an Italian restaurant and deli hidden in a corner next to The Macron Stadium — the home of Bolton Wanderer’s FC. I’ve been here a few times for lunch, but I usually grab a sandwich to go from the deli counter — today, i decided to sit in and catch up with a friend. They do everything here from sandwiches at lunch time to a full dinner menu — with all the usual Italian dishes making a appearance. I have only been here for lunch, so I can’t comment on the dinner menu, although it looks varied with everything from antipasti, to pasta, pizza, steak. you name it, they do it. So i’m quite excited to pop back here sometime and try this out. But for salads and sandwiches at lunch — spot on!
