Kams use to be really good for chips especially. However, the new generation have taken over and it shows. Large chips is £2.20 and the portion size is reduced. The quality of the potato is also no longer there. I did not really use to mind the 20 minute wait that happened and others have said so here if at the end the chips were piping hot, thick and crunchy in the right sort of way. I know about the machine that does the cutting of the potato so I know how automated this is but if you do not have fine ingredients then you are not going to produce a good product at a reasonable price. Therefore, we only use it in an emergency when chips are on the menu(not too often) and cooking of chips is felt to be a chore. At least it is less than a 5 minute walk.

A generally good chippy and Chinese. Food is piping hot and tasty. I agree with the other reviewer in regards to the slow service. I went in to order just 1 portion of chips but had to wait at least 10 minutes while they worked through all the previously placed orders. very frustrating! The batter on the fish can also be a little too thick for my liking but their food always tastes fresh. Good portion sizes too.

Kam’s offers Fish & Chips and Chinese food. Tried the fish & chips and these are lovely — fresh and hot. The major downside is how S L O W the service is. I’ve never been to a Fish & Chip shop before where you have to place an order and wait 20 minutes for chips. They need a serious look at their organisation, as they have everything else going for them. Give them your custom but give them your feedback too!

Our closest chippy, and a frustrating one. Why? Because nine times out of ten, their chips are beautiful. Absolute perfection. Good-sized portions too. But one time in ten, we get them home and they are terrible undercooked rubbish. Maddening! It’s like Russian Roulette. You never know when you’ll be disappointed. And the staff have so many little alarm/timers going off when they cook them, so I’m not sure how they get them wrong every ten times or so. Hurrying the queue out? A very friendly lady seems in charge, and the two youths seem fully trained up now, after struggling and mixing a few things up when they first appeared. The rest of the food? Mediocre in my opinion. The fish can be nice or sludgy. Too much of a lottery for me, so I won’t have fish from there again after a run of disappointments. My wife likes their battered sausages. I tried their Chinese food a few times several years ago and found it insipid and lacking. But it seems popular with others. I go elsewhere for my Chinese food… a really nice place. Big frustrations. Waiting can seem chaotic. They take a few orders, then sort them out, leaving the rest of the queue. People sit everywhere, or pop out to the Co-op. They’re often readying orders for those that have phoned them through too. You don’t know what’s going on sometimes and now and then, I see customers shrugging or rolling their eyes at each other. Can be extremely busy at weekends, so I only go Monday to Thursday. Last straw was waiting over 25 minutes for two portions of sausage with chips once. Sometimes it doesn’t look too busy, and I get optimistic, but then end up waiting a long time because they’re sorting out phoned-through orders. Oh, and the pile of magazines should win the prize for oldest, least-changed pile of magazines ever! I give this chippy three stars because the chips are beautiful most of the time and the lady is truly the friendliest. But because the chips can be dreadfully undercooked now and then, and because of the frustrations queuing, I can’t give it any more. Seems popular and busy though.

This is in Priestwood parade of shops. They sell chinese as well as fish and chips. The battered sausage is nice and the food is well cooked and hot. There can be a queue especially at weekends. The chinese food is nice and hot and they seem to cook it and give it to you quite quickly. The staff are chinese and are efficient. There is some parking at the front and side of the shops if you can get a space.
