A very mediocre pub. The staff are friendly enough but the food is just appalling. The £9.99 ‘all you can eat’ chicken night on a Saturday consisted of a plate of chicken burgers, two bowls of BBQ or spicy chicken, and some chips and beans. Don’t come here if you want anything above ‘student staple’ food. I won’t be returning.

Now I need to reign in some spending here and find some value for money places to hit. My first port of call was this chain owned pub in Drighlington, the Old brickworks. It’s a Brewers Fayre run pub and it’s all about the deals for me. What it does is give you two main courses for nine pounds if you go through the day Monday to Friday. The choice of meals isn’t bad either. Try the Tandoori Vegetable Masala or hearty fish and chips. We’re not talking Gordon Ramsey here but we are talking perfectly acceptable and affordable servings which won’t bust the bank. You can also get smaller snacks and the wine is more than competent and cheap to boot. Oh and the puddings deserve a shout especially the Belgian Banoffee Waffle. Or if you are feeling that the calories are stacking to stack up go for the fresh fruit salad. It won’t blow you over but it will fill a gap and for a bank manager pleasing sum.

A Brewers Fayre pub that is very disappointing. When I went they managed to burn the outside of the burger bun I had and the starter was cold. The people were pleasant enough but the food was really poor. I went again as part of a family celebration and it was better but I made a point of remembering never to visit it again!
