This little bistro is tucked away in the Cross Tree Centre in Braunton. On our last visit, we ended up there by chance and took the last free table, alongside several groups who were clearly regulars. The service is warm and friendly, and we found plenty of choice on the menu. The evening menu is not cheap, but it’s of excellent quality. Beef comes from the local herd at Muddiford, and as we had been very carnivorous elsewhere, we opted for the fish feast for two. The fish is landed at Appledore, just across the estuary, so the freshness and quality is assured. Our starter was based on shellfish, while our main consisted of four fish, including dabs, which are baby sole. The fish came with a selection of vegetables and potatoes which were simply cooked and full of flavour. During the day, the bistro is a coffee shop and also does cream teas.
