Very nice atmosphere with green walls and wood tables about. I got for lunch takeaway the bruschetta with pine nuts and pesto for about £5.5 and also the baked aubergine with spinach, sun-dried tomato, goat’s cheese & mixed salad for £11.50. While the bruschetta’s price was a bit much for the portion size– only one medium slice of sourdough bread– the flavour was delicious. The aubergine was lovely, with a nice round swath of goat cheese. It’s texture was perfect: not too soupy but soft enough to be chewed pleasantly. If I lived closer, I would definitely return!

We were having a very nice time in the cosy Biergarten on Sunday evening with some tasty small things to eat. Will sure visit again.

I was taken to The Weir last night for a quick pub meal. The word Gastro is overused these days — but NOT in this case. I had a fabulous meal — lovely steak — rare — and done perfectly(I can be very fussy). The service was excellent and the atmosphere really relaxing. You have to know where it is though(I wouldn’t have found it by myself). It is on the canal in Brentford and has a lovely outside garden. I normally go out in Chiswick but The Weir is on my ‘go back to on a regular basis’ list. I’m going to try out their Sunday lunch this week. Really worth checking out.

OK for a pint of Erdinger in the summer sitting in the beer garden. Chateaubriand is good but at £45 you are paying more in this pub than in a Mitchelin Star restaurant over the road in Chiswick’s Le Vacherin(not on menu at the moment from what I can tell though but recently I remember they had priced it around £40). I’ll visit this place occasionally when I don’t fancy trecking out to Chiswick or Richmond and fancy an Erdinger and a bit of steak.

This was our first trip to UK, not knowing what to expect we walked into this restaurant and we taken into the dining area which turned out to be very pleasant and comfortable. We had the hamburger and fish and chips; homemade chips that were included with burger were really tasty! The wine was good as well; too full to order dessert. Would recommend this quaint little place to anyone.

On first appearance it looks great, massive beer garden. but this place lacks atmosphere and the staff could smile a bit more!!! The food is good but a tiny bowl of nuts for £2.60!!! Come on get real!!!

Here for business, and our German sales VP and HR director take us on a short walk from the Holiday Inn to here. I would have never known about this place, and I’d certainly recommend it again. while so many of the items sounded great, I went with fish and chips. the wine list is fairly sized, all things considered. the service is great. the food is timely and very well prepared and tasty. the fish and chips(yes yes, how generic) was not a cheap piece of leftover fish that was then battered, and the chips were well fried and nice and crispy, without being saturated with oil. the desserts are must do. i had a chocolate cake with sticky caramel sauce, and wow — i wish we had a local joint that served that here. will definitely visit this place again the next time we’re in Brentford.

My first trip to London, and me and my man stay in Brentford Lock. Having heard all the bad things about food in the UK, and just getting back from 5 days in Italy, my expectations for food were not high. We asked our concierge a great place to have some grub and they recommended The Weir, in walking distance. Wow. We sat outside, and even though I was freezing, the patio was lush and green and the tables were nice. I was so cold we moved inside and the pub interior was all I dreamed of. Huge bar, overstuffed padded booths, lots of wood and leather. I had about 3 beers and the Cumberland sausage with mashed potatoes and minted peas. My man had fish and chips(how American of us, I know!) The staff was so friendly I feel in love! I didn’t want to leave! Truly set the tone for 3 great days in England!

Unjustifiably lauded eaterie which rarely gets the service angle right. Rude, uncaring staff. Poor service unless they know you and you’re a big spender. There are a number of negative reviews on the web. Check them before even thinking of going.

The White Horse as it used to be known, was always a great place to go. Situated directly behind Brentford Magistrates court, you used to be able to see well heeled briefs having a spot of lunch in the same room as their clients. who to put it mildly, were’nt well heeled. Since 2005 it has been renamed the Weir and on both occassions I have eaten there, I must say, the food was spot on. There is a massive garden area out the back which is pleasant during the summer and they have BBQ’s when the weather permits. Well worth a visit, but not worth going to court for!
