Alec’s Restaurant

Fantastic selection of fresh fish, in a beautiful Essex country side location. Light, airy décor. Extremely busy restaurant, so you’ll need to book in advance. Surf and Turf is excellent. Will Definatly be coming back

Been to Alec’s three times and it is a nice restaurant. This area is pretty sparse for good restaurants and against that competition Alec’s definitely shines. Restaurant is in a good location and is very well finished making a nice setting. The view of the fields is great in the summer. The duck, cucumber and hoisin sauce starter is fabulous. Definitely a favourite. The crab ravioli is also good. Delicate and light it is very nice with good texture. Maybe a bit short on flavour though? The prawns with shallots and chilli are really tasty although perhaps too much butter. I am big butter fan but the prawns do have to swim in a lot of butter. The sea bass and ginger is a very nice dish. All the sides have been very good as have all desserts. A good wine list matches the food well.
A good restaurant but still room for improvement for the cooking to always match the prices.
