We are regulars at Nest. Always great coffee and good food. It’s a pretty reasonable lunch and full of interesting people. There’s a little ‘book shop’ inside too… quite handy if you want to chill out over a coffee or two for a few hours. I like the mismatched tables and hessian sacks covering the seating… very laid back but also very cool. We always go for the yellow table under the huge clock, but upstairs is a good spot too. I think most people don’t notice this place on a busy Saturday so we’ve always managed to gets seats which is great.

I came in for a quick bite to eat today, and tried the halloumi, red pesto, rocket and red pepper toasted sandwich. It was flipping’ delicious! The halloumi has already been grilled before going in the sandwich, and the pesto was wonderfully garlicky and flavourful. I also got a rooibos and mint iced tea, which was very refreshing. Toasted sandwich and iced tea came to about £7 something, so not the cheapest, but not too bad either. The service was friendly and the place has a mellow, laid back atmosphere with seating downstairs, upstairs and outside. Would totally come back!

I heard about Nest from a coffee blog and made it one of my top cafes to try and find on my day trip to Brighton. We stopped here as a break from shopping in the Lanes. It was pretty close to closing so too late for me to have coffee, we tried the iced tea instead. Plus their iced tea was made from rooibos so caffeine free! I’m really glad we got the tea as it was so refreshing on that hot day! Sweet, floral, with a nice balance of citrus. And of course the barista put in a lot of ice to make it cold. The perfect summer drink if you’re looking for something other than coffee. I wish we had room to try their delicious looking cakes and treats, there are so many to choose from and I always love cafes that have a range of food options. The café is two floors and we sat upstairs. The window let in a lot of sunlight with two cute painted murals on the back wall framing the window. A very nice space, I had an enjoyable time sitting and relaxing here. The only downside is they have no wifi. But overall a lovely café in a great location.

This cute little café is my latest find in the lanes! I’ve been here a few times now and been delighted each one. The food was wonderful here — I had a toasted sandwich and a brownie. The sandwich was goats cheese and was really delicious, with very crispy bread and beautiful fillings. The brownie, too, did not disappoint! It has been one of the better brownies I’ve tasted around Brighton of late — sticky, gooey and just right! It was very chololatey, though, and by no means small so it’s a possible sharer, if you don’t have quite as much of a sweet tooth as I do. The place itself is dinky, but cosy and comfortable still. The food selection was great for a café of this size, and they even catered for vegan and gluten-free diets by the looks of it. There was even… wait for it… free wifi! Hurrah! This is always a bonus, in my books, so it was a rather great find, on top of my delicious lunch. Tucked away in one of the busier lanes, this place could be easy to miss, but next time you’re wandering around, keep your eyes peeled and pop in for some cake or a sandwich!
