Age Concern

This branch of Age Concern has yielded all sorts of treasures to me… although there is admittedly the standard 3ft of crap to wade through, it really is worth your trouble, because most likely you’ll find something great!
This particular shop is really good for scarves and other accessories… they have a couple of big bins full of woolly hats, scarves and gloves, some of which are really on trend at the moment, despite being about 10 years old! Last time I was in, both me and my friend found a pair of knee high suede winter boots. My friend’s cost only £8 and whilst mine were a little pricier at £25, they were brand new current stock from Zara, meaning I saved at least £60! Bargain! Check out the jumpers and coats too, I’ve spotted a couple of great blazers and a beautiful cape amongst the dross.
I regularly donate to this shop, primarily because I believe in the cause, but also because it has given me so many great bargains!

My dress sense is pretty standard (i think), nothing too extravagant or adventurous, you know just pretty normal… yeh?
Well anyway, I wish I knew more about fashion, what’s in and what’s out, what’s hot and what’s not and all those other fashion terms (Jesus I sound like an old man here), because there is always a little Jewel waiting to be found, and you just need a bit of luck, and a bit of judgement, and you’ve found yourself something pretty damn cool.
There is also a selection of DVD’s and CD’s, which 90% of is likely to be rubbish, but also there can be some gems in here too. I found Doolittle by The Pixies, how cool is that?

This charity shop — from the charity for care to the over 50s, Age Concern — is situated on the bustling London Road, alongside many other charity shops and discount stores. It’s not the best charity shop ever, stocking a lot of rubbish — but these kind of charity shops are often the best in their own way, with all the more satisfaction when finally a gem is uncovered! I bought some cute glass tealight holders from here once — 6 for £1, as well as an amazing (–ly hideous, yet fantastic) glittery 80s dress. I gave the dress to another charity shop after a few wears, but glittery dresses are all the rage on the high street at the moment, so I’m sorta wishing I’d kept it… Ah well, maybe a few more trips to Age Concern will yield something even better!
