I can’t comment on the bike servicing but I’ve bought a lot of spares and clothing from Bikes and have always received excellent service. Steve in the clothing department is very helpful and makes sure you get what you need not what he wants to sell you.

i was recomended this place by some ol biker friends, that said it was a good shop back in the day so i took my bike to BIKES OF BRIGHTON as i had an oil problem and needed MOTi spoke with the employee behind the counter and asked for a quote on how much they would charge and he said he would get back to me and let me know. nearly three weeks later i went back as they kept saying they didnt have time to look at my bike which was with themthe same person promised me he would get back to me and let me know how much it would cost soon and that he was sorry about the delay. i go back 3 days later and they tell me the works been done and it would cost me £365 if i want my bike (i never agreed or got told what was being done, i asked for a quote!!)…i asked why so much and i got told i needed footpegs to pass an MOT (they put completely wrong unusable ones on)…and they put a Shincheng nobbly tire on when i had a road tire on previously, and when i objected i got told shincheng nobblys was good for road too (nobbly is good for road? since when?) and they disregarded what i had to say telling me it was already on! (charged me same price as a bridgestone or pirelli tire) and an inner tube and wheel bearings plus they passed the MOT. that was itthe rest was manual labour. i originaly took the bike to the shop with an oil problem and they said they couldnt do anything about it. i said that i cant hand over 365 quid and walk away with the problem i brought it to them to fix (so now i had nobbly tire with oil pouring onto it, great)…i then asked the same employee behind the counter who was goin to give me the quote why he didnt contact me with the quote we had agreed and he didnt answer me and looked at the floor (saying uuumm and aarrrr) and walked off telling me to speak with the mechanicthe mechanic blamed it on the kiddy saying he didnt know nothing and just got told to do it and said speak with the boss. the boss turned round and said. youll get the bike when you pay the money, i cant do anything for you thats the best i can do, the work is justified so pay
this point i felt really played around with and bullied into giving them the money and riding away with the same problem with the bike but with a big hole in my pocket and wondering what the hell just happened (and yes im a mug for letting it happen but im not too experianced and approached them in good faith)…i am disgusted how i was treated and im very sad it had to be this way after being recommended this shop by respectable
friends went to the shop after and told me that the staff are different to most the ones they used to use back in the day and i guess they just dont give the service they once did. previously i had bought a couple things from them and thought they were nice chappies and this kind of treatment just wasnt their style but i was wrong so be careful with them

As Josh has said already, this is a real ‘biker’ shop that actually offers pretty much everything most biker’s would be looking for.
The staff inside are obviously bike fanatics and know the In’s and outs about everything to do with bikes. I went in there for advice and came out feeling like like I had received the audio version of ‘bike’s for dummies’.
Everything inside is at a very good price, especially given the specialisation of some of the products. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, the staff are very quick to advise you who might, or how to get the item.
One of the shop’s that can’t really be criticised; the best for what it does.

Bikes of Brighton is the kind of shop that old timers might refer to as a real bike shop. Like something from Paul Sample’s Ogri cartoons in the back of Bike magazine the place has a real dyed in the wool, oil soaked and well used feel about it. Yet at the same time it succeeds in totally de-​mystifying what is often perceived as the murkier world of used motor bikes and being a biker.
Not the largest shop in the world the counter takes up the greater percentage of the shop floor while the walls are dripping with odds and ends, from goodies like anodised bar plugs to essentials like oil. To the left of the counter there is a flight of stairs leading to the clothing and helmets section, where reasonable prices and sound advice await any customer from the new rider to old hands just looking to upgrade or replace current gear. The guys who work here possess a wealth of knowledge that is seldom caught out and are happy to answer any question you might have no matter how stupid you might think it to be.
On the down side their stock can occasionally be caught out and order times for any more obscure or classic component can take up to two weeks so if they don’t have something you need then you’re probably best resorting to the internet. On the whole though Bikes of Brighton is just the kind of well run, sensible Bike shop that a town with such a two wheeled heritage deserves.

New and used parts, accessories, clothing, helmets, used motorcycles and repairs are all on offer at Bikes of Brighton.
On the front of the main entrance to Brighton Bikes are posters for AC/​DC and The Who, reminding the customer not to forget that motorbikes are cool, and are inextricably linked to rock music. However the AC/​DC and Who concerts they are advertising are actually tribute bands; not so cool, but still, in the right direction.
To be honest though, this shop isn’t about looks, it’s quite simply a good, hard working, honest shop which deals in Bikes and getting those babies on the road.
KTM and Yamaha road and Moto X bikes are displayed outside, and the Yamaha Virago especially took my fancy, looking a little bit like a chopper, I suddenly had the urge to throw off the constraints of society and go easy riding. But I didn’t, as sleeping under the Californian stars in mid summer cannot be matched by the lovely, but actually quite cold, Sussex Downs in mid winter.

I have been going to this shop for almost 3 years since I started riding. Steve set me up with all the gear I would need for the daily commute to and from work in fact I still use the same pair of boots. Proving you get what you pay for. Just brought a new helmet from steve as usual he was more than willing to spend time making sure it fits and did a great deal on it for me. Okay you can by gear online cheaper but how do you know its the right fit and its safe to use. So I guess overall I would say very friendly and helpful shop and most of all honest

Since I got my bike a few years ago, I have used Bikes of Brighton to get all my gear (I’m a girl and found they had the best selection for women). When my bike needed it’s first MOT I naturally took it to them as they had always been really helpful. I’m only 21 and don’t earn a great deal of money so asked if they would phone me and quote BEFORE doing any work. I got a phonecall a few days later asking me to come in. When I turned up they said they had done the MOT at a cost of £30 and also done an additional £195 + VAT worth of work. When I asked what works had been done and why they had not been quoted for before they were done, they told me that as I was blonde, I wouldn’t understand the technical stuff and that I had to pay to get my bike back. The problem they said they had fixed (which I wasn’t aware of before) was with the alternator. Three weeks after they supposedly fixed this problem, the alternator actually started playing up. I went back and was told they would charge me for the work. So I went elsewhere. I really feel like they took advantage of me and DEFINITELY wouldn’t go back again for fear of being ripped off again. It’s a shame, because my previous experiences there had all been good.

great shop for bikers. great helpfull staff. the one bike shop that allways delivers what you ask for so if your looking for clothes that will just do dont go there you do get what you pay for. its a long established firm that wouldnot be there if it was a profit only business. If you visit Brighton go there (opening times apply).No i dont work for them i’m a very happy customer

This is a small, traditional motor-​cycle parts shop. They sell a decent selection of spares and parts, although I’ve never had a service here. But I’ve bought all sorts of bits and bobs and they have always been both knowledgeable and friendly. They have a regular clientele of dispatch riders, which is usually a good sign that they know their stuff!
