This shop is full of unusual and fun things to fill your house with. I recently treated myself to the flamingo lights which I love and I went back today to pick up a swan plant pot but unfortunately they were out of stock. A perfect excuse for me to visit again soon when their deliver arrives!!! You can pick up some real treats in here, perfect for the difficult to buy for person!

A lovely little shop full of little items for the kitchen and home. Lots of items suitable to give as gifts too, books(for example the«Ladybird Guide to Husbands», mugs etc. My particular favourite things are the Scrabble-related things. I’ve already bought a nice Scrabble mug and I have my eye on the fridge magnets. For the hipster vinyl enthuisiasts amongst you there are also portable gramophone players.

I spent so much time that I didn’t have in here. England At Home is a store that contains everything that you want to feel, read, and listen to. It has the funkiest and funniest selection of items — I wanted to buy everything here as a housewarming or just-because gift for everyone I know or just met the other night. If I could fit everything I wanted from here into my suitcases without breaking them or surpassing the weight limit that I always go over, I totally would. The workers are incredibly friendly and personable, and it’s just such a welcoming place. I got some great photos of the shop, check ‘em out!

I always find myself wandering into here when in town. More than anything I like their buyers eclectic taste, he/she goes from smutty(but funny & untacky) cards & gifts right up to some tasty designer objects that will find their true home in my ubercool, sea view Brighton pad that I won’t ever get round to buying… I like their mini kitchen composter, ‘stabbed man’ knife holders(!!!) and inflatable chairs with speaker docks. I did buy some lovely furniture in their other shop over the road though. Ace Brighton retailer!

The name of this place makes it sound like it should be a traditional, little English home store… but that could not be further from what England at Home has to offer. Inside, you’ll find a huge mix of the quirky and downright weird, as well as some pieces that are actually rather nice. They’ve got rude(I mean VERY rude) greetings cards, the pointless but brilliant ‘Dead Fred’ pencil holders(plus related bookmarks and coasters), animal key chains that light up and make their respective noises, bizarrely-shaped balloon whisks, adopt-a-vine(or pony, if you’d rather) gift boxes, humorous or arty coffee table books, eye chart tea towels, cat-end tea towel holders, multicoloured stackable espresso cups… and the list goes on and on. My absolute favourite thing about England at Home is their collection of gorgeous telephones. These range from payphone-style 1950s designs to retro 1970s circular dial phones in a range of colours. So cool they make me wish I had a landline I actually used.

A pretty boring name for such a cool shop, England At Home is another of Brighton’s quirky homeware shops, selling all sorts of funky, original and unique homeware and gadgets to brighten up your place. From Union Jack front door mats and dog and cat arse tea towel holders, skull design hot water bottles and Banksy coasters and canvases, this place has it all. They sell funny fried breakfast and pizza printed plates, with the latter coming in actual pizza boxes, brightly coloured kitchen utensils and equipment, cushions, furniture and lamps, as well as loads of gifts and gadgets for kids and adults alike. Space Hoppers, cool clocks(including mini alarm clocks that can be flicked across the room with minimal effort), old school dial phones, bar stools, recipe books and cardboard tank and fire engine cat play houses are just some of the stuff on offer.

Apart from the union jack cushion malarkey(would you?!) you will find some cool things here, for instance go for the limited edition printed cushions with the wicked paintings on which are in the smaller shop of the two. A lot of items here are probably more geered towards a lad or ladette sense of humour, such as the kitchen knife holder that is shaped like some that has just been speared by a kitchen knife. They have some crazy lampshades, including the bowler hat lampshade I have seen in a few places recently. The latest in novelty home ware.

England at Home is one of those fun shops to look through — plenty of unique and jokey gift ideas to laugh at and imagine buying for people. I loved the robot salt and pepper shakers, for example, and the voodoo doll knife set. I’m not saying I’d like these things in my home — just that they’re interesting to look at. Other than home décor, I saw some intriguing books, like the Giant Book of Answers(I got a pretty vague one when I tried it) and several for, um, loo reading. At the moment, several shelves are taken with Christmas goodies — lights, other decorations, etc… — so, if you have people that are hard to buy for, this could be your one stop shop.

This place is very glitzy, full of very glamorous home furnishings. It’s a little too James Bond for me but I still really enjoy looking through the Marilyn influenced prints and cushions, the shiny and unusual gift wrapping, the ceiling of retro inspired lights. And, of course, they always stock some patriotic– England at Home– items usually with a twist on the British flag. Some of the decorative items and the furniture(red velvet armchair!) are bold and some are more sleek and designery, some are just fun– there is always something to look at though and there is bound to be something that sparks an idea or that would make a great gift. The prices range from a few pounds for the cards to several hundred for some of the large canvas prints and furniture.

The sister branch to England At Home’s furniture boutique across the road, this larger branch specialises in more kitsch and colourful accessories for the home. There’s bright and breezy bar stools, Penguin deck chairs, telephones, wall stickers, graffiti canvases and kitchen bins as well as smaller bits and pieces like chopping boards, salad bowls, Pantone mugs and bottle openers. There’s also a wide selection of funny and tongue in cheek greeting cards, wrapping paper, design books and stocking fillers. My favourite items? Probably the orange Space Hoppers and Fire Bucket ashtrays!
