I must say, I was quite bummed out by the prices in Fruity, because I loved so many of the items I saw. The clothing was a unique blend of feminine and earthy — several outfits were made from hemp, in that flowing, casual style but with girly accents: a little blow, or a lacy frill. The prices weren’t outrageous, or anything — just not fit for a student budget. Most tops and skirts were between £35 — £65. Other items worth mentioning: soft faux fur coats and stylish handbags. The table of pressed flower jewellery was another delightful accessory… a necklace with a pressed daisy in the pendant was £18. I’ll add this shop to my return-to-post-graduation list.

Fruity is one of the many quirky independent women’s/girl’s clothing stores dotted around the North Laine. This particular offering, as the name suggests, stocks a range of bright colourful items(clothes, especially dresses, as well as some shoes and accessories) and is a pretty shop to pop in for a browse. Prices aren’t bad, with some items more dear but the odd bargain to be had. The range is good too, with the selection including items appropriate for teenagers and adults.
