Java Community Cafe

The Java is an internet café set up by volunteers about eight years ago. It serves excellent snacks, light meals or just a drink at comparatively low prices. It has a friendly atmosphere and serves as a meeting place for members of the community.
There are computers available for use and computer courses are run at the café. Also if you are having any problems with your own computer, there are often people around who can give advice.

This place serves a great breakfast (sandwiches, omelette’s, muffins, cookies) and a great cup of black coffee. As a way to start your day, this is a great café to go to. There is definitely a friendly, neighborhood vibe to the place. You get people from nearby just walking in to make conversation with the staff, and the staff is super friendly with everyone who enters. The café also has volunteers who help the Internet users, and are just beside you if you need a bit of assistance. Internet is £2 per hour, and they also provide options for printing (10 pence per page) and scanning (50 pence per page).
As this is a «friendly neighbor» type of establishment, be careful conducting any business meetings here. As Internet was not yet set up in my flat, I came here to participate in an off-​site job training session, where my employer phoned me, and I followed the training instructions on the Internet. In between following my boss’ instructions, I had to juggle with the background noise of one baby crying, one toddler refusing to go in her stroller, one mother begging for her toddler to go in the stroller, and one young guy beside me talking on his mobile about the party last night, and how it had to be done again, but, this time, Jeremy would not be invited. Sorry Jeremy.
But this is truly a fine establishment, and provides a welcoming and comforting feel. It’s a large place where you are free to relax and read a book, or the paper, or just surf the Internet. Just don’t do your Internet training sessions here.
