Journeys Brighton Hostel

Hands down, this is the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. I just returned from a trip traveling abroad — I visited 13 different countries and stayed in hostels along the way and Journey’s was absolutely horrible. I was in the room on the first floor and there was a huge vomit stain on the carpet next to my bed which had been «cleaned» but not fully removed. There was also dried vomit on the inside of the curtain along my bed.
The desk attendant was completely unhelpful and could not offer any suggestions for finding an adaptor for my iPhone and lacked any sort of customer service you expect to receive in a hostel. I’ve worked in a hostel before and I could not believe how unfriendly the staff was — it’s a hostel!
The kitchen was dirty and I can understand guests cooking and making messes but someone should at least be there at night to clean up! All of the furniture in the living area had stains and the the floor was dirty. The bathroom smelt like urine and the floor/​sink area looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in awhile.
I had a horrible night’s sleep, the bed was uncomfortable and there we’re vomit stains so it was pretty gross.
There are other hostels in the area and closer to the train. I only had to stay one night and thank goodness for that — I wouldn’t haven’t stayed more than one night. Not worth the price AT ALL.

Do yourself a favor & pay more for a decent stay somewhere else in Brighton. The staff was extremely rude and unfriendly throughout our two-​night stay.
The amenities sucked.
The triple-​bunk beds didn’t even have a mattress… it was like a yoga mat with a sheet to put over it. Not enough room to sit up. Nowhere to sit in the room at all, just lay uncomfortably.
One cold terrible shower per two floors, or about 10 rooms: not efficient. Shady, inconsiderate guests snoring & slamming doors all night long? No thanks. I would never stay here again. I’m embarrassed for this place. The staff and this hostel don’t give Brighton a good name.

This youth hostel is literally cheap as chips! I could have a room here and get breakfast cheaper then what I am paying to flat share. The only reason I do not do exactly that is because I would get tempted out by each set of new people that turn up and would never get an early night.
This place is set up to allow people the opportunity to stay in Brighton for next to nothing so they can spend money on enjoying themselves and meeting people.
check out is at 10a.m. so enjoying yourself too much could lead to you struggling to meet this deadline so you should always stay for longer than one night.
There are rooms available at a higher price but if you value your privacy and want cheaper prices than hotels then this would be a good solution.
Brighton has the most pubs and clubs per square foot in the whole of england so book a place here and see how many of these you can see before you go.
As this place is new all the beds etc. are all in good condition so it is by no means a squat like some foreign places.
