Excellent service, great food, an unusual menu but also standard sandwiches etc– all served in a professional way by a lovely family at a fair price

Me and my boyfriend went to Brighton recently. I am polish and frankly the only thing that I miss from Poland is food. Well, as a surprise my boyfrind took me to Sami Swoi in Hove. I was so excited when we got there as the menu looked so good. We got there at 9pm and the light was on and couple of girls inside. Well as soon as we entered the premises blond girl told me in polish that she just packed up and the restaurant is closed. They didn‘t even bother with us. My boyfriend was gutted. So was I. I have been informed that if they dont have many clients they close earlier. Well shame there was nothing on their website about it. On the website they claim that most of the week they are open till late. So what time is «till late»? And again I realised why I live here. Polish attitude is so wrong.(remember I am polish). J

Always willing to try out new things, my friend and I ventured to Samo Swoi recently for some Polish cuisine. Upon entering is a sign reading ‘all friends here… welcome’ which immediately puts you at ease, as do the smiling faces inside. The décor is simple but homely and reflects a traditional Polish restaurant. I’d describe most of the dishes as heart warming comfort food, great for the soul and warms the cockles on a winter’s day! Classic dishes(and personal favourites of mine!) include Gulasz(Goulash), Pierogi(dumplings) and Golabek Tradjcjny(stuffed cabbage leaves with pork and rice). There may not be a great wine list here but I’d recommend trying the delicious Tyskie Polish beer!

While in Brighton, I’ve tried to be a bit more daring in terms of the types of food I’m willing to eat. As I’ve never tried Polish, I thought I would once again venture off into the unknown, and step into the mysterious terrain that is Polish food. I liked it. The design of the place balances cozy and elegant. They have a large menu, so it is impossible to get your fill of Polish cuisine in just one night. Everything is quite affordable, as I ordered a large plate of Fried Duplings that came to £3.60, and almost filled me up. They also have a large drink menu consisting of Polish beers, wines and cocktails. This is a great place to go if you’re familiar with Polish food, or just looking to get acquainted with it.
