My husband and I went here for a takeaway latte. Very nicely made I must say based from random conversation while we were in the middle of moving house. The man behind the jumps was friendly as we have both established the flat for rent next door was quite distasteful. We may have just nipped round there for five minutes but it was a nice enough experience to share. Thumbs up to this place!

The service! There were two of us. The first coffee came immediately. The second — mine — took fifteen minutes, give or take a few. The first coffee was all drunk by the time mine arrived. I asked twice where it was and was told that takeaway orders took priority. Charming! Splitting an order too. It was not a friendly response either. It spoilt my morning somewhat. The coffee, for my taste, is OK but not the equal of others in the area. I won’t be back, needless to say. The first coffee, a cappuccino, was not hot enough. Another negative, but if this is how they run the place, one might as well go to Starbucks where the service is swift and they are trained to consider the customer.

Lovely café. The drinks, food and service are all top notch. Easily the best coffee shop in Kemptown!

Great coffee, super staff and they always seem better than the other local cafes, Ground included. I can’t vouch for the food as I haven’t tried it yet. Highly recommended as a nice local coffee place.

Great little café in Kemptown. I have heard that it is a chain, but you really do not get that impression when you are in there. I have not yet eaten there(only had drinks), but I really want to… there seems to be a selection of American Breakfast option, such as a pancakes with bacon, french toast and waffles. They even have a California Breakfast Burrito, which I am dieing to test out haha! Do not order the small when you get a hot drink… it is pathetically tiny! There is outside seating, and plenty of it.

Spinelli’s is a great little independent coffee place in Kemp Town, just off St. George’s Road. Their tea is proper loose leaf tea served in a tea pot, with a strainer, which automatically scores them points. Tea needs a little bit of ceremony, doesn’t it? I also had one of their salad boxes tuna niçoise which was good value at £3.90 and perfectly tasty. I’ve only been here a couple of times for flying visits, as it’s just a little bit out of the way for me, but overall it’s a nice place to meet for a coffee, with friendly staff(they let me borrow a pen) and outdoor seating for when the sun is shining.

Spinelli is slightly out of the way at the back of Kemptown but very convenient for villagers, hospital workers and amex. It looks very much like a chain establishment with its pine wood finish and branded sign etc but its a really great independent caf! It attracts lots of yummy mummies with their kids from Brighton College as well as locals sucking up the fee wifi. Its a great alterative to the evil starbucks down the road, with its no frills selection you can get a large latte for £2.50.

Appearances can be deceiving as Spinelli is actually a in dependant coffee shop, that’s been very well branded. Situated in Kemp town Village a little off St George Street the caf offer has outdoor seating, posh cakes, free wi fi and everything you can expect from a Nero or Starbucks. It the only café of of it kind in the village and is a cut above the greasy spoons on route down to St James Street. The clientele are a variety of villagers from work from homers on their laptop to bohos with their books. The coffee is quite good to.

If it wasn’t a brisk thirty minute walk from my house, I’d haul my ass over to Spinelli’s right now for an Americano and a biscotti. Just remembering the cup I had earlier is making me remember how good they both tasted. I like the Red Rooster and Igigi but the smell of great coffee beans always hits me the moment I walk into Spinelli Coffee. There’s half a dozen tables on the ground floor, more in the basement and a couple outside. And they serve great brownies, biscuits and home-made pistachio biscottis. Is anyone planning to swing past? Any chance you could pick me up a cup?

Great coffe, and wonderfully rich moist choc brownies — best I’ve had! A great meeting place.

Can’t fault this place(but based on only one visit for ten fleeting minutes). Newspapers available. Friendly, cheerful staff. Free wifi. NB: I think the map is a bit misleading as the place is on the west side of College Road and is fairly close to St. George’s Road.

A wonderful coffee bar located in Kemptown. The place is spacious and bright with a very warm environment. Professionals from places nearby always run in to grab lunch and a cup of coffee, therefore it is definitely tried and approved. Unlike many coffee places around the city, this one has spacious tables and enough room where you will not have to squeeze in to enjoy your cup. Speaking about the coffee — it’s great! Prices are usual. The coffee house also offers snacks along with a dangerously delicious and rich looking carrot cake!
