I’ve been to this pub a few times, only for the pub quiz. I must say I very much enjoy it. The quiz master LOVEs his job. LIKEREALLYYYYY loves his job. You can tell he spends HOURS thinking /researching all the questions, tweaking his powerpoints and ensuring that all his resources are perfect. He even has a Madonna Mic! I can imagine he sweats, stresses and looses sleep every week to ensure success for the big night — his big night. He is a pro to be fair, I wouldn’t be surprised if he imagines he is performing at a west end show whilst doing this quiz. He is very actor like and animated in the way he presents the quiz — very panto… he’d be the villain that is sometimes good. ! What I enjoy about this quiz too is that you have to interact with other teams in some of the rounds. Which is great for meeting people and just makes it more of a competition. However, make sure you sit near a ‘nice’ looking team. We had a right odd women with us last night. She was like the susan boyle of quizzes. Took it way to seriously, I’d expect her to be reading up on her general knowledge all week in order to prepare for this. She was getting very frustrated so be prepared to find people who take the quiz VERY seriously. But there is all sorts — a range of older and young participants. Book way in advance 2 weeks I think we’ve had to book it. Costing £1. You also do win if you come 2nd to last! Anyway, nice pub, great quiz, AMAZING nachos. £6.95 for a big bowel of Nachos, a generous handful of chips, cheese, and all the sauces. Cheap and filling. Not great on the waste line — but who cares. I justified it by walking home as I live in the North Laines ! Even though I got the bus! whoops. I had this really nice beer last night too. East Coast IPA. If you like ale and lager — this drink is for you! Lovely light combination of lager and ale… MmM! For you smokers — they have a good well seated and heated smoking area. ONEDOWNSIDE… the toilets… MYGOD. I’m going to have to upload a picture. The door was like half a door, like the doors you get in primary school. You could literally peer over them. Which doesn’t give you any confidence if you want to go for a number 2. I’m sorry to lower the tone, but you know when you need to go, I’d not be very encouraged to do so if I knew someone was going to peer over at me doing my business. Also, the top of the toilet was decorated in concrete weird stones, this suggested that the pub has had previous experiences of people doing lines of coke in the toilet — it certainly isn’t a decorate feature and looks like an eye saw. It’s so important to have good toilets — they need to invest some more money in those. Especially if people are there for a 3 hours doing the quiz, they are going to need to use them! I don’t to use a toilet and then feel as if I need to be sterilised and bleached afterwards. Def worth a visit if your new or haven’t been to this pub before!

I’ve only been here twice. I spoke sarcastically both times about how much it costs to buy someone else beer(because I don’t drink). I find it comfortable in here when it’s quiet. I hear they make great pizzas. And put on a well-organised quiz. A handy place to go and do work if you miss your train(or it’s delayed).

As a fan of a good pub quiz, I was intrigued when several people described the quiz here as the best in town. I am so glad I checked it out because I was not disappointed… Quizmaster Mark was a genuinely funny host and managed to make sure the very complicated quiz was conveyed effectively to everyone; his work ethic shines through on many of the rounds, there are laugh out loud moments and the«Pointless» inspired round(not available every week) is a stroke of genius. If you’re in Hove on a Wednesday evening and are looking for something to do, get down to The Station pub! On to more general matters, the pub seems friendly and not too rowdy, although it was mostly given over to the quiz so I’m unsure how it would feel on a Saturday night. My goat’s cheese and sweet chilli vegetable calzone was delicious and was very reasonably priced, although the other diners’ meals left something to be desired. I would definitely advise getting booked in early for the pub quiz, and not to expect miracles in the kitchen… but all in all a great night was had.

I could have easily ended up writing a scathing review about The Station this evening after we came very close to having a disaster, however disaster was averted and we ended up having a really good night! Having booked a table for the extremely popular pub quiz tonight a couple of weeks in advance, I was shocked to have been told we had been double booked! Thankfully the Quizmaster Mark contacted me and really went out of his way to ensure that myself and fellow Unilocalers had a table so that we could attend. Once we arrived at the pub, one of the staff members named Jason apologised profusely for the mix up and as a gesture of goodwill, arranged for us to have a 33% discount on food and drink. Score! The Station Pub itself is lovely — situated right next to Hove train station, it’s a spacious pub with plenty of seating and an outside area. Food is served til 9pm and I hear the pizzas are legendary! I was very pleased to see that they serve BrewDog, so had one of those with a cured meat platter and olives which was massive an tasted delicious. The pub quiz was brilliant, and absolutely packed out. You can really tell that Mark the Quiz Master puts a massive amount of effort into creating the quiz each week. There were moments where we ended up screaming and shouting because we were just a hopeless team! There are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, which can be up to around £120, so it’s a pretty serious quiz, and some of the teams really were in it to win it! Funnily there is also a £50 cash prize for coming SECOND to last! It looked like we were going to win that prize, until the last round where we answered too many questions correctly and ended up third to last. D’oh! Overall it was a really enjoyable night, Special thanks must go to Mark because he was brilliant. I can see why this is the best pub quiz in town, and I think this is going to become a more regular thing for me!

It’s busy because if its location next the the train station and they do have some good pizza offers but otherwise I would choose one of the many other pubs in the area.

The Station Pub is a bit of a strange one in my mind and I’m a little undecided as to what I think of it. Situated right outside Hove Station, as the name would suggest, it’s a large pub that is one step ahead of other drinking establishments located in such places. I often feel that pubs like this have an easy, transient customer base so don’t really have to try too hard to impress. The Station is large and modern, suggesting a recent refit, but for some reason it seems to be lacking a little in atmosphere. There is a large restaurant area, a bar area, and a pool table. The restaurant specialises in Italian food. They have a proper pizza oven out the back and there is a huge selection of pizzas with toppings that are a little different from the norm. In February they are running a special offer — any large(12″) pizza for £5. They also do 2 for 1 on a Tuesday so I would say it was particularly worth going along when one of these special offers are in place. As well as pizzas, there a number of other Italian dishes, but it seemed like most of the customers were sticking with the pizza. When we ordered, we were told that there would be a wait of about 45 minutes. We were starving so this was a bit of a pain but the pizzas were definitely worth the wait. I went for a goats cheese, red onion and pear pizza, while my friend went for the BBQ chicken. Both were good, with thin and crispy bases, just the way the I like it. Overall, I would definitely come back for another pizza but The Station wouldn’t be first choice for an all night drinking session.

This place is really convienient and the pizza are all really good. Drinks are diverse, service is great and there are some good seating areas. I don’t like the ‘eating area’ at one end as the tables are not fixed down and it gets over crowded they could make better use of that area. Good atmosphere in general.

The notoriously unreliable British Rail Service will often leave you stranded at stations with delays and even cancelations. And what with the London-Brighton line being a popular spot for people wishing to committ suicide, there is a strong chance that you could find yourself with half an hour or more to kill at Hove Station. The Station pub is therefore perfect. The drinks are reasonably cheap, there is a poll table and quiz machine, plenty of seating and an outdoor area. But the best thing of all about The Station is the pizza’s — I don’t think it is any exageration to call them the best in Brighton and Hove. Made in a traditional pizza oven, they are huge and well worth the reasonably good price. 2-for-1 on Tuesday’s is an even better offer, and proves very popular with the locals, as does Wednesday nights quiz. It may be out of the way of central Brighton, but if you are in Hove or going anywhere from the station then it is well worth a visit for a beer and something to eat

The Station couldn’t be named more aptly, being directly next door to Hove Station, and is a great place to pause when waiting for a train or going into town. Prices are cheap and the selection is good, as is the rather excellent food. The only problem with the Station is the location: it’s only really good for people in the Hove area, and not really worth going out of the way for. Still, if you’re in the area, you could do much worse. The Station serves a variety of drinks, from your basic lagers to cocktails and a hearty selection of wines. Being a wine drinker, this is normally what I go for, since there are no ales or cocktails really for me, and it doesn’t disappoint, with plenty of reds and whites for any kind of wine-drinker. However, if you like your real ales and that sort of thing, you may well go wanting. Apart from the drinks, the food is really good, if a little pricey. Still, the pizzas especially, for which the Station have their own old-fashioned pizza oven, are well worth trying, and the oven keeps the Station delightfully warm, even at the height of winter. Apart from the food and drink, the Station has a very pleasant, homely atmosphere, at least, in the right hand side of the bar. The left hand side is a little more wine-bar/restaurant, and a little less pleasant to sit in: not awful, just not as nice as the other side. This is a great place to sit and relax, but there’s little here you can’t get in the centre of town. My recommendation: if you happen to be in the area, go out of your way to get here, as it is something quite special: otherwise, you’ve got a good place to go if Hove beckons.

Things by stations are always a bit non-descript, and this place is not an exception. Whilst it is infinitely better than the sterile drinking zones in stations(that are depressingly dressed up to look like traditional pubs) it nonetheless lacks character and warmth for me. Apart from that anonymous feeling it’s an ok place, decked out nicely and a space to have that last fag before you get the train. The chips are also very good for this purpose, hand cut and fried, get them down and peg it for the train.

The station Bar is a very friendly place to meet friends, service is good and their food is great I really love the chicken wraps, and you can alway get 2for 1 pizza on Tuesday, you can imagine the first time my hubby and I ordered our usual 2 pizzas, when it was time to pay we got quite a shock as we only had to pay for 1 great treat, which means we could have a couple more glass of delicious wine. great stop off point on your way from work to home, especially on a Thurs, Frid, the buzz inside is fantastic. I would gladly reccomend this place to eat and chill anytime of day.

The Station pub is literally a stone’s throw away from Hove Station’s entrance so perfect if your train is delayed or if you are hungry/thirsty after a days commuting. Be warned though, it does get extremely busy around 5 or 6 with people pouring in after work. Its a pretty big pub though and is well known for its pizzas. They are cooked in a real pizza oven(you can see them go in from the bar!) which always makes such a difference taste-wise. On Tuesdays you can get 2 for 1 pizzas and on Thursdays the same deal is available for cocktails. I know which nights I’ll be going!

This is a nice, above average pub/bar to get a relaxing drink in. Light and airy with decent tables and a few sofas too. The drinks prices seem about average and they do a good selection of thin crust stonebaked pizzas prepared on the premises and cooked in their own oven. Very tasty. They have a few deals too: 2 for 1 pizzas all day Tuesday. 2 for 1 cocktails Thursday after 5pm. Pizza and a selected drink for £6.95 weekday lunchtimes(12−3pm). They have a comedy night on the last Satuday of every month but I’ve not been to that. There’s outside seating on the pavement which is a bit rubbish as it’s right next to a busy road and bus stop. Much better is the small terrace around the side. The place can get pretty crowded after 5 on Fridays.
