Having read the Beach BBQ review we decided to try it out and called to book. Kieron James was very helpful and texted us the details. 2 Adults and 2 Kids. Great staff, great atmosphere and great food. Kieron gave us a tour and explained to us and the kids how he sous vides his meat. Tried the Pops, ribs and sandwich. In fact the Pops were so good we needed a second round to keep the peace! We will all be back. My son Jack insists on giving it a five.

The Windmill is possibly my favourite pub to go to in the heart of Brighton. The staff are always very polite, and the pub is a dog friendly place too which is a bonus! Their food menu is very reasonably priced. The veggie beer battered halloumi is amazing and their veggie thai curry is delicious!

I went here last night with a bunch of friends. It’s a really nice pub, atmosphere is really chilled and the people(including the bar staff) are real nice. Not the kind of lot that are at a pub and want to get SMASHED. The only downside is that it doesn’t have an amazing outside area!

I admit, I was skeptical. It’s far off the road and looks less than impressive from outside. Walked in looking for Sunday lunch, snagged a table in the back corner and sent the husband up to order, with admittedly low-ish hopes. Let me just tell you, I was absolutely and totally impressed with both the quality and portion of The Windmill Sunday Lunch! I had the pork and it was outstanding! Large strip of fresh crackling, fresh and bright veg, excellent potatoes, and apple sauce. Gravy was great, and the yorkshires were outstanding! Inexpensive, delicious, filling… perfect day out!

I had an after rehearsal pint in here yesterday with a friend. The décor inside is cool and the atmosphere friendly and relaxed. They have a really nice selection of beers including Erdinger on tap. We only stayed for one but I’ll certainly return. It’s location on Upper North Street makes it an ideal spot to meet people downtown, quality Brighton pub

Had a lovely meal here and very cheap. They allow you to take your dog in too. It’s very lively and friendly, great for just a drink or a bite to eat. Only downfall is we booked a table for 9pm and when we got there they said they stop serving food at 9pm, so why book us a table for 9? Anyway we managed to order food but we had to pick quickly. Plus there’s FREE wifi!

The Windmill is the kind of place that makes you feel instantly at home. The low ceiling and eclectic décor give it plenty of character and with such a nice selection of beer, cider and ales it will appeal to most avid drinkers. The free Wi-Fi is a great bonus and there plenty of plug sockets for laptops. It is without a doubt a hundred times better in the summer, as the front beer garden gives you the opportunity to admire the wonderful architecture of the surrounding area. Every Sunday night there’s a quiz and the food is amazing, for just £11.95 you can get a seafood platter for two(smoked salmon, crayfish, prawns, calamari, anchovies, plaice goujons, salad and a selection of breads) . By far one of my faveourite pubs in Brighton.

The Windmill is an excellent Brighton pub, a really great place to sit, eat and drink, primarily because of the great location. However, it’s slightly removed placement also means it is a little quiet, thus the prices are a little high to reflect that… It seems a couple of little things have gone wrong here, which is a shame: it is very nice and well worth going to, although you might want to bring plenty of friends to make the atmosphere more lively(and help pay for your drinks!). The Windmill is set a bit behind Western Road, away from the sea and up the hill towards Seven Dials. It’s location is a boon, as it is very quiet and a nice place, close to the middle of town, where sitting outside isn’t an effort to shout over the traffic, but it also means that it’s always a little empty: the atmosphere is a little strained due to this. Also, I assume because there aren’t many people coming, the prices are high: it is one of the more expensive pubs in the area. Still, the selection is great, the food(especially the roasts) excellent, you just need to bring the atmosphere and cash with you!

A lovely little boozer relatively tucked away up from Western Road. The secret’s not well-kept though, and The Windmill’s poky barroom heaves with sociable quaffing, particularly on the music nights. The last time I was in, there was a gypsy folk band, making merriment, wedged in like everyone else, by the door. The gods were angry and it rained hard that night, meaning I was in no rush to walk back to Hanover, and so stayed late to enjoy the all the rootsy ambience that The Windmill oozes so effortlessly. The owner is keen on rock art too — illustrated impish sirens and tattoo-like intricacies — and much of the work, by local artists, is on sale around the bar.

This place, in my opinion is one of the best places to head to for a Sunday roast in the summer. You have to get there early to get a seat outside, epecially if you are in a big group but it is a fantastic experience. The food is excellent and not at all over priced. I had the roast chicken and it came with pretty much all the trimmings you could want for. If you don’t want a huge meal, their sandwiches are really nice too and quite inventive with their ingredients. Inside the pub, the décor is really cosy and the staff really friendly. There’s lots of little hidden alcoves to sit in and hide away if you have a bit of a hangover and want to read your newspaper.

For months I have had numerous people telling me just how good the Windmill was. One Thursday afternoon, short of options, I came here for a spot of lunch. The first thing to notice about the pub is that it is quite a dark, and a little bit grubby in places. However, this is all part of the Brighton charm I thought. The menu was interesting, offering a mix of sandwiches, mexican and things like Burgers. I went for a chimichanga, which is a deep fried rolled tortilla. I have to say that I was really disappointed; it was burnt and a bit plain. At a cost of nearly £8, I realised I could have gone to a Mexican restaurant.

Another Hove fave, this pub is very popular in the summer months thanks to the court yard area at the front of the pub offering outside seating for around 100. Its on a fairly main road so attracts a lot of passing trade as well as local regulars. Its frequented by young profs and 25+ Hoveites. It’s a must on every Hove pub crawl due to its location and outside seating, as well as fab menu of pub faves.

Every Sunday night there’s a quiz and they also apparently serve great food. However I’ve never eaten there so I can’t vouch for that. All I know is that the last time I visited I made a mental note to drink here more often.

There are just so many pubs in Brighton it would be almost impossible to visit them all during a pub-crawl. However, if you were to refine the catchment area to within the Western Road vicinity, The Windmill would certainly have to be on the list. Perhaps better in the summer, it has a little garden area out front where you can sit and enjoy the almost Art Nouveau architecture of the surrounding buildings. With a fine selection of ales it’s a place that’ll please most committed ale enthusiasts, whilst its relaxed décor and friendly staff are bound to make anyone else feel equally at home. Sunday quiz nights are a main highlight as the questions are varied in subject and difficulty, allowing even those with the least amount of general knowledge to have fun. Prices are standard and the service is great however I can’t vouch for the food, as I’ve never tried it. Certainly worth a visit though!

The Windmill is a great backstreet local but is also easily accessible from town, as its just a few minutes walk from Western Rd. I went for dinner and drinks with a few friends here last summer and it was great… we sat outside and enjoyed the summer evening and then moved in when it got a bit chillier. The food was amazing… we shared a Mediterranean mezze platter, which was ginormous and such good value at under a tenner… we’re talking Serrano ham, stuffed olives, crusty bread and all sorts of cheeses and salamis. Seriously yum. The location means you get a mix of clientele and a much more diverse age range than some of the pubs in the town centre, which is really nice. It’s a favourite among Seven Dials and Hove residents but is also populated by intrepid shoppers, seeking a spot of refreshment off the beaten track. They have a fully stocked bar with some good ales. The pub is cosy and has palpable atmosphere created by friendly staff and a lively crowd.

The Windmill is a must do on any Hove pub crawl, its situated on Upper North Street so away from the bustle of Western Road but still attracts people in their hoards. Its probably the nice front court yard that’s a right suntrap in the summer months, its location is also on route from Brighton into Hove a vice versa so gets a lot of passer-by trade. It attracts youngish crowd of young profs but all are welcome. The interior is modern and cool with music memorabilia and groovy pics. The menu has is quite standard with nachos, sandwiches etc etc. they have occasional theme nights that are always a laugh, they had a particularly good beach party night in the middle of winter with the heating on full blast and sand all over the floor.

From the outside, The Windmill looks like your average English pub with locals sat on picnic tables sipping cider and smoking rollies. Once you step inside however, it feels more like a bar in Williamsburg. The walls and ceiling are covered in limited edition prints by graphic artists Tara McPherson and Franz Kozik whilst the toilets are covered in stencils and graffiti by local artist Hutch. Occasionally, a live band play but most of the time, the music is pure indie and classic pop from The Ramones to Blondie. The bar is well stocked with everything from Guiness to a good range of spirits and they do pub food from lunch til 10pm every evening. A little piece of Brooklyn in Brighton? Sounds good to me.

Great pub set just back from the main town. Always busy and attracts a pleasant crowd. Has a wide variety of beers on offer. Has a small beer garden at the front of the building which is really nice in the summer. Had quite a random night there once when I turned up unexpectely to find that the pub was holding a beach party — in the middle of winder. All the heating in the pub was on full blast and there was sand everywhere(must have taken someone ages to clear it up !). Must admit I have never eaten there but I have heard great feedback about their food. Recommended pub.

The Windmill pub quiz nights on Sundays is a good fun event. The questions are varied. At the end of the evening is play your cards right. For the real ale drinker it is a good pub to be in. It also provides a good menu to choice from.

The Windmill is a small, friendly local, a few minutes’ walk up the hill from the busy Western Road shopping area in Brighton. It serves well kept real ale(Adnams Bitter and Broadside) and decent pub grub. The décor is a sort of shabby chic, with some interesting ‘pop’ art on the walls on our last visit. The staff are very friendly and service is efficient. It attracts a mostly youngish(20 – 30 year-old) crowd, but older customers(like yours truly!) are equally welcome. There’s a very nice outside area in front of the pub, which catches the sun in summer.
