Mmm, baguettes… I don’t know about you, but sometimes nothing beats a freshly baked baguette oozing with your favourite fillings. Although Baguette Express is a bit of an eye sore, their baguettes are heavenly. My current favourite is the Brie, Salad and Pickle special; it is served warm, and the bread is fresh and crunchy. And if you’re a fan of beetroot, they’ll throw some in for good measure! All for only £2.50. The Baguette Express is a welcome addition to East Street’s otherwise limited snack shops, and certainly beats Subway in terms of quality.

Imagine this conversation setting up Baguette Express: «I think we should open a shop, I need to think about how it looks from the outside, I know, a nice snot Green as the base colour, yea, that’l work, then bright blue & red for the writing… I’m pretty sure all those colours must go together…» If you can forget the obvious horrific visual aspect Baguette express then take a step inside. They will pretty much give you any filling you could want for a baguette, and some you might not have thought of. Bacon Brie and Cranbery is always a good choice, and the salad option is pretty good. Like most places of this fashion the drinks are more expensive than you would expect, but I guess that’s not what you come to Baguette Express for! If you are a fan of quick fast food, but don’t want to step inside a Mcdonalds or Subway then you should come here. THe food is fresher, and better for you, and the price is not much different.

This bogie coloured sandwich joint on East Street in Bedminster is a great place to pick up a fast lunch for a fussy eater(unless you don’t like bread). For fixed prices, you can customise your own sandwiches, baguettes, paninis, toasties, jackets, salads, wraps and rolls with a selection of standard sandwich fillings and sauces, all made freshly to order. As for value, the lunch items are averagely priced, not too expensive, but not too cheap. Whilst this is the only branch in Bristol, with the next nearest in Leicester, there is an abundance of stores in Scotland, so bear this in mind if you find yourself hungry when travelling up north.
