Very solid burger(tried the Dirty Classic). Fantastic house Salad(a surprise with beets, walnuts, and Stilton). The beer, however, was the star. Their house Chomp House Brew by Wiper and True was fantastic. Great little place in Bristol. Nice casual vibe. Good service. Go!

All fur coat and no knickers — place looks the part, but that’s all this place has going for it. Average burger for a tenner(the nicest burgers in Bristol can be bought for 5 not too far from here). Chips were raw and hard. Burgers and chips, easiest things to get right, and considering the number of burger places in Bristol, you really cannot afford to do wrong. Waste of money. Won’t be back.

I was extremely unprepared for the taste of this burger. This was truly a life changing experience. There is literally nothing bad about this place. From the texture of the burger to the crispiness of the fries to the crunchiness of the slaw. If I somehow had a genie like Aladdin all my wishes would be spent reliving that moment. Sensational. P. s. I’m going back and taking everyone I know

Didnt really taste the steak or the burger but just want to comment on the service. Had a group of over 12 people on a Saturday night, Chomp ran out of all steak and only had burgers left(3 choices). They gave us the entire basement floor to ourselves and gladly accommodated us until 11pm or so. The waiter was extremely patient and friendly, he even gave us free extra fried snacks. Everyone was very happy about their food, the portion of the sides are really huge! I was satisfied with my chilli cheese fries and rocket salad, would love to come back to try the entrees!

Yay, a beautiful burger, 5* quality. I’m taking down a star only because although their chips and burgers are gluten free, there are no alternatives or extras for us non wheat eaters, therefore my burger was bunless. Still the best burger i’ve ever had though! I was not so keen on the plastic grass décor, although my baby loved it. I know the canteen/tobacco factory industrial feel is in right now but I like a bit of warmth and intimacy so not quite my taste in ambience… The sum of it: Good for groups About £15 a head for burger and one soft drink Caters for Gluten free Caters for children Caters for Vegetarians Industrial ambience. Best burger you’ll find.

So good to see a small business work their way up. From a small van outside Temple Meads to now running a full size restaurant in St Nicks! In the past few years my idea of a burger has been completely flipped, turned upside down! With the introduction of brioche buns and baconaise(what sweet sweet genius came up with that one) I have been outstanded. The location of Chomp is great, loads of parking around, especially if you know the tricks of the trade ;) it’s a modern yet chilled interior which really really worked for me. The right light levels and music volume so you don’t overhear other people’s comments and you can spill and bit of food on yourself and no one will notice. That was a big bonus for me, especially if you sample their brilliant range of ciders, ales and lagers. Staff were very friendly, great waitress and chef was a friendly bloke! Prices were so reasonable, £10 for burger with fries and slaw(no idea what happened to Cole from coleslaw, poor bloke) and drinks were a fair price too. They also do promo nights where you can get burger, sides and a drink for £10 or something. They also do specials every now and again, the other night was a Stilton burger — sounded perfect. But for your first time you always have to go tradition, the house special. Your classic burger with only some onion rings on the side. Perfection. Would definitely recommend, I am really finding it hard to find bad places in Bristol lately, competition is tough but these guys have hit the nail on the head. Bye bye Gourmet burger Kitchen

A pretty good burger joint. Well cooked burgers with flavoursome toppings with a nice range of sides including combos of loaded fries. However, the vibe is a bit hit or miss. It works within the depths of the restaurant with no backround music, leaves it slightly dull. 10⁄10 for the burgers

Is there a bigger or more subjective topic, than the almighty burger? Our collective love, yet individual taste, makes for one of life’s most difficult questions: what is the perfect burger? Well, I think I’ve found mine! Bristol has been blessed with many new burger bars/restaurants over the last 12 months or so, and we already had a number of gems. One of our most recent and highly anticipated, is Chomp. You may have had one of their burgers before, but if you hadn’t, you will most likely have seen their awesome black burger van at the back of Temple Meads station. After their van gained an almost cult following, they’ve just opened their first restaurant in St Nics. Now, I love a burger. Who doesn’t! And what I love most about Chomp burgers, is they are manageable with one hand, yet big enough to satisfy. The burger itself is super tasty and you can really taste the meat and seasoning through all the other ingredients. It comes in a beautifully coated and shiny brioche bun, which is without doubt the best bun I’ve ever had. As standard you get parmesan mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion, with tomato sauce and mustard. It comes together perfectly! No sticks holding it together and no gimmicks. I don’t want to say it’s the best burger I’ve ever had, but I can’t think of another ‘classic burger’ that I’ve enjoyed more. And to be honest, I am struggling to think of any burger I’ve enjoyed more. You can, of course, add extras to your burger, like jalapeños, Stilton or bacon etc — but I wanted to go purist, so stuck with the house classic. The rest of the menu is just as simple: burger, veggie burger, 3 different steaks. And they also have an extensive beer, bourbon and drinks menu. The restaurant is dark, casual and typically Bristol, and that makes me love it even more. See you soon, Chomp!

Those of you who Iove Chomp’s burger van down by Temple Meads rejoice! They’ve only gone and got themselves a permanent residence! Tucked away just off St Nick’s Market Chomp’s new restaurant is doing exactly what the guys have been doing from the van for the past couple of years-serving up some of Bristol’s best burgers. We visited in their first week of opening and unfortunately the service was a bit shoddy-the waitress had seated the wrong group at the table we’d booked, they didn’t have enough space to seat us all and those of us who could get seated were left waiting half an hour for our drinks orders to be taken. HOWEVER! This was clearly teething problems, and once we got down to burger business all was forgiven. These burgers are next level-perfectly cooked, juicy organic patties in brioche buns, simply served with a minimal selection of toppings and the most amazing fries. Prices are around a tenner, so on par with most of Bristol’s other burger joints, but the burgers themselves give everyone else a run for their money!
