For those of you who value quirky shop keepers and their ability to transform a potentially dull excursion for a pint of milk into a surreal experience, I’d advise you take a trip to Solanki Stores. Although its produce is fairly overpriced, the Asian couple who run the business will keep you entertained. On entering the store, you will be greeted with a ‘Hello, Sir!’/ ‘Hello Madam!’ from Mr Solanki himself, which may unnerve the more coy customers amongst you. If you indulge Mr Solanki in conversation, you are guaranteed an interesting five minutes.
Also, for those of you who are keen on Indian food, The Solankis’ stock a good quality range of packaged Indian produce. Try the samosas — they are scrumptious!
