The George

This is essentially a sports pub, which houses a number of TV’s including one giant screen. A friend and I popped in here one Sunday afternoon and both suffered mild attacks of paranoia on our way to the bar. Feeling as though all eyes were on us, we looked at eachother with mild bemusement before realising that there was a huge screen in front of us and we were blocking many a miffed punters’ compulsive viewing. Oh dear. We promptly left, since A) we felt as though we may as well have just walked into someone’s living room and B) an audible conversation wouldn’t have been possible due to the racket emanating from both the punters and the TV.
If you’re a fan of poker, The George has a Poker League which takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm. It also boasts live music every Saturday night.
