I’m not entirely clear what a Myrtle Tree is but that’s not really important, what is important however is that this pub is really great. Me and my friends like to meet here every now and then on a sunny afternoon before venturing on to somewhere more ‘upbeat’ because the variety of customers you get here gives the place a great atmosphere! This is especially a great place to come in the summer I find, because the beaming sun makes all the customers even happier than they usually are — which makes all those drinking in The Myrtle Tree exceedingly friendly and forthcoming. If you find yourself in the area during a big Horse Racing Festival (i.e. Cheltenham Festival, Ascot, etc) get into The Myrtle and joining those screaming at their horse on the screen — it’s a great experience!

Currently slightly blocked by scafolding, the Myrtle tree is a small but very welcoming freehouse.
A very popular venue for those who follow the horse racing, or who like to place a little flutter now and then as they show alot of the races on the television.
Being near the centre, river and students union it draws in some surprising customers, and most are impreesed with the cask ale they have on offer… me included!
