Toby carvery offer simple and pleasant food at a budget price. This example is clean friendly and disabled friendly, both architecturally and from the staff perspective. As long as you are familiar with the pattern and like simple roast meat meals with lots of veggies this is a good restaurant for a cheap hearty meal.

We were introduced to the place by old dining friends, it was really crowded and busy and to them a favourite eatery. Reception and bar were undermanned, we were eventuall given a table for 7, and the endless wait began. Great difficulty establishing what was available. The carvery only had beef and Ham, and the server came and went. The meal was totally disjointed all starting at different times as various meals became available. There was only one male toilet which was permanently engaged. In frustration with no answer coming from frantic door banging. I used a tool and rotated the engaged bolt indicator to vacant and opened the door. There was no one in the toilet! This was not and experience I could possible advise my pals to try out. Unless there’s some huge underground Fight Club-style scene that I’m not aware of, Bristol isn’t a city exactly awash with carveries; indeed, I’m pretty sure this is the only one I’ve ever been to in the city. It’s out in Henbury so make sure you know where you’re going before you set off(it’s the pub by the roundabout there with a very big car park). The grub itself is cheap enough — about £8 for a carvery with a choice of four meats and a load of veg options which you can pile up high — while there are other pub grub options available too. A good shout if you’re feeling indulgent on a Sunday afternoon but don’t want to blow the budget.

I have visited here 3 times now for Sunday lunch with a male friend who is a wheelchair user, and we have been made welcome and assisted by staff on all occasions. Access is good and staff do their best to find us a table near the carvery with plenty of room. Its a great selection of meats and veg and portions were big for the meats — you can have more than one meat if you want. We had a choice of beef, gammon, pork, or/and turkey The yorkshire puddings are to die for — just perfect and a choice of large or small. Meats are served and you just help yourself to as much veg as you want — what a choice there was: — stuffing balls, cauliflower, peas, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, parsnips, roast and boiled potatoes, 2 different gravies and every sauce you could wish for. Service was great as the waitress was there for us if we needed more serviettes etc and offered a dessert menu as soon as we finished Its great for a nice home cooked roast and not too expensive either We are definately going again

Food ok, veg can be a little overcooked. Sometimes have to wait quite a while to be served so if you go separately from your group, you will be eating at different times. This can happend quite a lot if you take it in turns whilst some watch the table etc. OK atmosphere. Just OK really.

unfortunately, i have to say that i did not enjoy the food at toby carvery. the meat was cold and dry and made my trip there not worth it. the only nice thing was their Yorkshire puddings, those were lovely.
