Probably the best pub in St George area if you’re looking to avoid the«old man» type pubs that seem to dominate church road. Inside its got a cosy feel with lots of little booths dotted around the edge. Tuesday night is quiz night which is always good for a laugh!

I know it’s already been said, but I just need to reiterate — this place is cheap. Well cheap. You might question the quality of the wine you’re served when it’s circa £1.50 a glass and, to be fair, you’d probably be right to. This is not the kind of place you go to for a fine drinking experience. This is the kind of place where you to get completely and utterly hammered to within an inch of your life. If that’s what you’re up for(and, let’s face it, if you’re stuck in this part of town, you probably are), then I would say that the Whitehall Tavern is just about perfect.

Apart from pound a pint at the city’s scream pubs(where pints actually cost £1.25 and you have to endure the awfulness that is a scream pub) I don’t know anywhere as cheap as the Whitehall Tavern, where a typical pint is well under two quid. That it’s a decent pub on top of this(and much better than plenty of pubs in the centre where a drink will cost twice what it does here) makes it well worth a trip into Easton. The pub’s a bit out of the way and the result it’s fairly localish. That’s not to say you won’t feel welcome on a visit here, it’s not too insular. Although it looks fairly ugly from the outside it’s fairly well decorated and positively pretty when you consider the prices your paying.

Quite possibly the cheapest place to drink in the city(based on my own experience and popular opinion). Some pints are as low as £1.50 and that’s not happy hour or student discount or anything. Looks drab and fairly dire from the outside and in need of a general spruce. Don’t let that put you off folks. Situated just off of Whitehall road on Devon road in Easton, it attracts a diverse crown from Redfield, Whitehall, Easton and Greenbank. Not all hippy-dippy types either ;) It’s just before you get to the hump bridge over the cycle path. The place rocks it up of a Friday and Saturday night and you may find yourselves chatting to a group of randoms — that’s just how friendly it is(and how drunk you’re likely to get on such bargainous booze). Nothing much to see inside — a bar, wooden seating, but the community feel shines through. Don’t expect luxury and don’t dress up.
