Tasty Mexican food, in small portions(Tapas style). I picked the ‘set menu’ which allowed me to taste a wide selection of the food on the menu, and I would probably do that again! The waitress was polite and friendly and brought the food out fast; she even recommended which dishes to eat first as they would get cold the fastest. Not too expensive, and I would go again if I was in the mood for some Mexican.

I’ve never been to Brixton all that much, but came down here for #SecretBrixton and to have a quick look around Pop. I’d noted that there was a Wahaca on the way there, and so was pleased they were involved as well. So naturally, being a total Wahaca addict, I went there. You can tell it’s a former pub, as there’s a lovely long bar on the left and the seating layout is great — I often find that Wahacas either have no lighting or there’s some really funky and uncomfortable chairs — none of that here I can gladly report! I was seated quickly, and the service was spot on. It’s a shame I’ve forgotten the waiter’s name as I would have praised him publicly here — he was polite and friendly, but not bothersome(and remained polite while I was talking with my mouth full at one point!!). I got the gauc and chips, which I don’t normally have but the gauc was terrific and the chips were really good too — much better than I expected. I then had both the pork pibil and the chicken tinga tacos. I desperately wanted the sweet potatoes — they’re like the best thing on the menu, but I couldn’t decide between the tacos and I thought I had one plate too many for just little(ha!) old(true) me. So in the end it became a fight between the pibil and the tinga to decide who is the king of the Wahaca tacos. Pibil went in as the favourite — mostly because they’re like my favourite Mexican food from anywhere ever. Round one went to the pibil, when piping hot, they’re like the best thing ever. Luckily I caught the juices with a tissue before they hit the sleeve of my white shirt. Round two went to the tinga; as the tacos cooled, the chicken held it’s flavour better than the pork. The final round was a bit of a draw as when cooled, both the chicken and the pork were both great. In a push, I’d give it to the pork on points, but the chicken was so good that it pushed it right to the wire. I’m just going to have to come back for the rematch.

Wahaca manages to achieve the almost impossible mission of success without decline. Each branch that opens has a slightly new take on the bright Mexican street food eatery selling healthy South American tapas and the best tequila in town, all at mega affordable prices. I have never had a bad meal or a bad margherita at Wahaca. These guys know what they’re doing. Whether it’s a crunchy chicken ceaser tostada, a crispy sweet potato & feta taquito or a delicious pork pibl taco, the mini dishes are a dream. Load up and enjoy! The bigger dishes are great too, whether you’re into fish tacos, burritos or a salad where you can literally eat the bowl, it’s all great! Make sure you start off with THE best guacamole and chips, and end with the decadent churros with chocolate sauce to complete your Wahaca experience. And don’t forget the tequila! The guys here seem to be in a bit of a go slow to other locations unfortunately, he food is still great though!

Great quality Mexican and awesome drinks! In my opinion this isn’t the best Mexican you’ll ever eat but it’s consistently good, the staff are really great and it’s affordable. Highly recommend the passionfruit vanilla mojito for something a little bit different.

I’ve been eating in Wahaca’s other branches for years so I was pleased to see they’d opened a branch close to where I live. We ate there late one saturday night when everywhere else was closed and we were very happy when they told us they could serve us as long as we ordered very quickly. As it turns out we weren’t rushed to much and we had a pretty relaxed meal. I love the mexican street food here and those of you who have read my reviews will know I am a great lover of food you can share. Wahaca is a great option if you like the same. The portions are generous and easily shared with 3 or four people. You will need to order two to three dishes per person. Generally even when I think that I’ve ordered conservatively I still end up ordering too much so go less and you can always order more later. The food is flavoursome and rich but with surprisingly fresh elements included as well which help to cleanse your palate. I particularly love the taquitos and the guacamole and salsa’s Wahaca fits nicely into the foody vibe that is Brixton and is a welcome addition.

Wahaca has become my standard go-to for tasty Mexican food in London. I LOVELOVELOVE their fly pay system. The Brixton location is new and very cool as you’d expect from any place that inspired the song Electric Avenue. Wahaca inspires me to order more… alas swimsuit season stopped me but that’s the only reason because this place is pretty damn good amigo. When you walk in you might think ‘hmm this looks a bit smaller than most of their restaurants’ but go to the back and hang a left… ¡Ay, caramba! there’s more. It’s great for a group or your solo adventure. Pork pibil tacos, chorizo and potato quesadillas and sweet potato & feta taquitos are just a few of my favs. They call it Mexican street food and this American Southerner via London’s word on the street is… it’s good y’all.

I absolutely love the margaritas at Wahaca and that’s precisely the reason that what I mainly remember about my visits is the tortilla chips and black beans that I munch on while waiting for my first drink. Cunningly, the margaritas are small so you think you are safe having only had a few and then all of a sudden, you’re on your 10th margarita and singing La Bamba. We usually share the Wahaca selection which has pork tacos, vegetable tacos, quesadilla, tostadas and these life affirming sweet potato with feta thingies. They are delicious. I also like the salads that come in the edible bowl because by this time, I’m pretty drunk and I am like«Look, I am eating the crockery, LOL». So yeah, Wahaca. Always drunk on booze, food or both.

Great visit but the fish tacos could have been better. Not awful but they would have been better with corn tortillas. Ah well. Still a great meal, nonetheless.
