Bleak house is where Charles Dickens is famed to have written David Copperfield. It is an impressive building built on a precapise at the top of Broadstairs. It’s well worth a visit as there are many rooms decked out in historical scenes and the room where Dickens slept. There’s tunnels underneath telling the stories of smuggling day… FOOTNOTEFROMTHEWEBSITESADLY Bleak House is sadly no longer a museum but a private house. The museum was supported entirely privately and had no support from the local council or any national body, and I am aware that it had become increasingly difficult for it to continue in the face of mounting costs and falling visitor numbers.
