Went in on Sunday afternoon. Sun shining, pub fairly empty, I thought it’d be decent. However, the service was painfully slow, they didn’t have one of the drinks we asked for a the beer garden was bare and filthy. It was not a great experience.

Excluding the high street, pubs are relatively few and far between in Beckenham and I guess the alternative location could be a factor my generous rating of this establishment. That said, it’s a very nice spot to meet up at; a nice clean and polished horseshoe bar, a beautiful rear beer garden and the benches out the front are set a fair distance back from the road. Though I’m sure it’s not unique, this is the only pub I know of that has a dedicated poker table, though from previous online/offline experiences, carling ‘n’ cards has rarely taken me all the way to Vegas(baby). Good to see Maker’s Mark in stock, Guiness was not the greatest I’ve had, but how could I grumble when I was being served by most gorgeous and smiley(spanish) barmaid in town. I do like this pub — it has a couple of local offies and the Jolly Woodman nearby too. Oh, and thin based pizza munch is served from 6 – 9.
