Pros Nice looking pub with laid-back English feel and theme. Traditional type pub ideal for families. Good, clean toilet. Cons Only one small TV screen and hardly any fanny knocking about. Review by LTJ

This is my local pub– it has a conservatory restaurant so you can have a sit down meal– lots of families coming in. I’ve never eaten the food myself so can’t comment on that part. The pub itself is a little bit shabby looking– it’s your average country pub. Sometimes it’s very busy, particularly when there’s live music playing, sometimes it’s not. I usually go in there if there’s a football game on as they play it on the big screen, or if it’s Christmas and there’s nothing else to do. Staff are friendly, great since I can walk 30 seconds from my house. There’s a car park outside with room for a few cars if you’re driving. Ideal stop if you’ve been for a walk round Burrs Country Park.

A country pub with an excellent restaurant serving a wide range of tasty yet inexpensive food. A whole range of visitors is catered for, from locals wanting a quick drink, to walkers off to explore the Burrs Country Park, to diners wanting to sample the highly rated restaurant. Normal pub grub and bar snacks are on offer, but the main attraction at the Garsdale is the terrific restaurant. It’s pricier than the pub grub but you get what you pay for — decent portions, quality ingredients, from steaks to good fish dishes. Highly recommended! It’s slightly out of the way, so doesn’t attract people out on a pub crawl, the atmosphere is therefore usually pretty chilled. Singers and entertainers are usually in evidence ona Saturday night, while there are quiz nights and other themed occasions during the week.
