This tricky to pronounce Ice cream joint is everywhere in Cardiff and here we have the Red Dragon Centre establishment. It does a truck load of Ice cream of all different, fabulous flavours. Be prepared to pay slightly more for that Ice cream snack. It is however, extremely worth it to pay that extra, the Ice cream here is exceptional. It is extremely hard to walk past Cadwaladers without being drawn in by the array of colours offering you creamy goodness. They have lots of seating for you to sit and enjoy your Ice cream in a dish or you can take it away in a cone. This parlour is perfect if you’re waiting for your film or a bowling booking, passing the time by getting ever so slightly more fat — sorry, I’m just bitter as am on a diet. If I wasn’t, I’d be here in a shot and I recommend you give it a try. I like Ice cream, we all like Ice cream, give Cadwaladers a try, despite the ever so dodgy long name.

As much as I like ice cream, I’m afraid I don’t get quite as excited about Cadwaladers as everyone else seems to. Perhaps it’s because I grew up in Cornwall with the best ice cream shop in the world just down the road from me, I don’t know. Either way, everything here is nice, but in my opinion it’s nothing special. However, I very much approve of there being a Cadwaladers in the middle of the Red Dragon Centre. It’s ideal for grabbing a coffee while you’re waiting for friends to go to the cinema, or for a post-film ice-cream if you’re there on a date. There is a small downside in that the only toilets in the Red Dragon Centre are in the cinema or in the restaurants, and I’m not really that comfortable sneaking in any of those to use the facilities, and I’m not to happy about using the staff toilets that the Cadwaladers staff will tell you to use.

What a genius idea — an ice cream stand right outside a multiplex cinema. I mean, what better way to pass the time in a long queue on a Friday night waiting to see Toy Story 3 than gobbling a hearty scoop of some of Wales’ finest? Although I must admit I prefer the creaminess of Ben and Jerry’s, Cadwaladers does have some pretty damn good ice cream. I didn’t think so at first, but they’ve redeemed themselves with their latest addition of a creamier, deluxe variety of their ice cream(loving the banana flavour!). Plus I love the little extras like sprinkles; I must be the only person over the age of six who has to have ice cream doused in sprinkles. Like James said, the staff here are very friendly and efficient, and this particular Cadwaladers gets extra points for the late opening hours, making it a perfect place for a post-date treat.

Cadwalader’s Ice Cream parlour is the best ice cream and milkshake specialist in Cardiff. High praise, I know. But it’s deserved. Cadwalader’s has that old timey air of a business that legitimately cares about what it does, beyond making money. Their business ethos hangs on just being damn good at what they do and, not to make it sound gross or anything, but you can taste the effort that goes into making their product(again, just to make it clear, I’m not saying you can literally taste the effort. There’s no hint of sweat or anything… Look, all I’m saying is it tastes really, really good). But that’s pretty much par for the course. If you’re going to open an ice cream parlour, you’d better make sure you sell ice cream that people want to eat. Fair enough. The reason this particular stall earns five stars is mostly due to the staff. The stall is never massively busy, so they’re always happy to chat and are always lovely to chat to. Anyone can make ice cream taste good, so it’s the extra things like a wonderful customer experience that makes it stand above all the rest.
