A great selection of wool, needles, notions and books just up the road from the car park at Sainsbury’s in Calne. Its very knowledgeable owner can start you off on new projects and give advice on the best yarn to use. You can buy everything here from the most delicate 2ply to the chunkiest Rowan Big Wool.

I’m so lucky — Handiwools is in walking distance from my house! It may look small, but the range sold is very good, from cheaper brands through to Rowan. The staff know the products well and have used many of them. Run by 1 lady and her mum — fantastic. Just take your pills if you are allergic to cats — there’s often one around!
