Wonderful experience — friendly staff, great room, very good bar grub! and, of course, excellent brewed beverage choices. My new place to stay when in the area.

One of the best gastro pubs around the area. You can eat in the bar area or book a table in the restaurant. Very relaxed atmosphere. Nice in the summer as there is a great beer garden but just as nice in the Winter when the fire is burning. Food always good and always a good selection of specials. Eaten there many times, evenings, weekends, Sunday lunch, never been disappointed. You can also stay there but as I live locally never done so. Interestingly this pub went smoke free long before the ban came in but it never seemed to affect how busy it was. Staff very friendly too.
