I have visited The Sea Tree thrice now, and I think I have eaten everything on their menu. On my third visit, got to try the whole mackerel, which for me was the holy grail. I love fried/baked whole fish on the bones, with the head and everything else. That’s how I learnt to have it when I was a child. I believe the bones and head define a fish. I also believe fish is the real British food, and this restaurant truly bear testament to that. Hope it stays that way. Should guarantee many more visits from me.

The seafood here is just excellent. First off, they don’t use frozen fish. It’s sourced locally and sustainably, starting at 6am from the markets nearby. A remarkable feat if you know the industry and typical profit margins. Got the haddock and chips. Perfect. Succulent fish with a light and textured crunch. They have a rotating menu of daily specials that all looked good, but hey, I’m a tourist. Give me the #1! Would definitely recommend this place.

Great fish and chips but you probably want to dine in rather than take it away. The coated cardboard takeaway containers will make things soggy in no time. The fish batter is heavy so your stomach should be prepared. The calamari was good quality but there wasn’t much flavour in the pan fried version. What was lost in the texture due to the takeaway box might also be to blame here.
