Every so often one of those semi-mythical people who has great, expensive taste and an aversion to eBay ends up in a charity shop with a bag of clothes. Last time this happened was in British Red Cross. Across the store, beautiful clothes in my size were scattered. Chilli Pepper vest tops in a choice of white or black. A Next skirt in a gorgeously subtle patchwork quilt pattern. All still with labels on. This is the urban myth that keeps us all going to charity shops, come true. Like me, the staff here were quite overwhelmed by this person’s generosity. They had put a few of these items in the window just ten minutes before we came in, and weren’t surprised when my friend immediately snapped them up. Eagle-eyed people like my mate Becca do make it hard to get the good items, but it is certain worth popping in ever now and again to see what British Red Cross have got in. URBANCHALLENGE: Take your time over the clothes here. It’s often worth it.
