Burton is my menswear of choice with a great selection of designer styled clothing that doesn’t make a huge dent in my bank account. The coats from Burton are particularly well fitting. Up to 20% discount for students pulls them in and with a very tasty selection of well-made items it’s hard not to leave with out getting a new shirt, offering a range of patterns and styles to suit modern taste. With deals like 2 pairs of jeans for £38 you can get some well fit pairs. Burtons is a fashionable store that is quite small they don’t have a huge range but it is all killer and no filler. The staff are always helpful but sometimes annoying when they are trying to push the Burton store card when there’s not enough of a store to make it worth while. I tend to appreciate clothes that don’t overtly advertise their brand on the clothes such as superdry annoy me, Burton has a style that is shiek. The store will take less the 30 minutes to see the range and that is exactly the amount of time I want to spend shopping.

Burton’s is a menswear shop that has placed itself halfway between River Island and Saville Row. It is a store that sells clothes to men who remain fashionable with a timeless, tasteful style rather than catering to the ADHD fashionistas and their desperate grasping at whatever the Powers That Be tell them is in this month. I don’t have a problem with fashion at its basic level. Fashion allows people to express themselves using their bodies as a canvas, creating a kind of subcultural shorthand letting others know«hey, talking to this person at a bar won’t get you uppercutted through the ceiling, Scott Pilgrim-style». It’s when fashion stops being about creating a unique and interesting form of self-expression and instead devolves into a follow-the-leader scenario where everyone is wearing what someone else tells them to in order to be considered«fashionable». It’s an arbitrary system and removes the personality out of the proceedings. I’m sorry if that sounded a little ranty. I mention it only because Burton’s bucks that trend by offering a selection of menswear that looks good in a variety of styles without riding the rails of the fashionista. It’s a place where you can spend time and money crafting a look that’s uniquely your own, and at affordable prices too. In short, this is one of the better menswear shops in Cardiff, selling clothes that are stylish, but not self-consciously so.

I’m glad I’m not a man because I would hate having to shop here regularly. As it happens I just get dragged in by my boyfriend, reluctantly. I don’t have any problem with Burton’s or the clothes they sell and even the staff seem like a pretty good bunch. Its just such a small crammed space that I find really annoying. The suit section is just stuck in a corner and it feels to me like you have to scrum to get hold of what you want. Maybe this is just how men like to shop, I’d rather stay downstairs and waid through Miss Selfridges instead.

It’s a little embarrassing walking into a Burtons, not because I find it uncool or anything like that. I just normally have half their clothes on me and fear I’ll get tackled by the overweight security guard. What’s great about Burtons is that it does all he same fashionable things as other chains but at a more reasonable price. I recently got a top notch suit and shoes here for £150. There is no way I could get all that for that price and that quality elsewhere. The manager that helped me swell was probably the nicest guy I’ve met in a long time. For that I will keep on buying my clothes there as you cant pay for service like that.
